BevNET Review: It's not often that beverages are launched on such short notice as Brain Twist's Flu & Cold Defense line was. Responding to the only recently announced shortage of flu vaccine for the 2004/2005 cold season, Brain Twist has offered a 2-drink line that is fortified with vitamin C and zinc, both of which are thought by many to help prevent colds -- hense the "Defense" name. The brand will only be available for a limited time and it will certainly be interesting to see how consumers respond to the brand. In addition, the logistics of delivering this product to market during the flu season (a rather short window of opportunitity as far as beverages go) will be equally as interesting. Peach has a sweet, pleasant taste to it which helps hide some of the medicinal flavors that would otherwise be present. The brand's packaging is attractive and has a very obvious medicinal look to it. Overall, a fine drink. Definitely something to try during this flu season.Reviewed on: 11/22/2004

BevNET Review: Flu & Cold Defense Orange offers 350% of the Reference Daily Intake of Vitamin C and 90% of Zinc. In addition, the beverage contains pectin which soothes the throat. This is a sweet-tasting beverage with a fairly natural orange flavor. The packaging is attractive, and even features a couple of medical-looking crosses on the front. Zinc can be tough to include in formulations without it imparting a metallic taste. We don't taste even a hint of Zinc in this beverage, although we question why Brain Twist couldn't go the extra yard and get 100% of the RDI in there. Without commenting on the clinical efficacy of this soft drink, we can say that it is pleasant to drink and it does make one feel a bit safer.Reviewed on: 11/22/2004
