BevNET Review: Frank's "Classic" Energy Drink formulation is billed as using an "original Austrian recipe", but it largely tastes like the same classic flavor used by the likes of Red Bull, Monster, etc. Still, it's clean and crisp, with a berry flavored body that is moderately enjoyable. Branding is the big differentiator, and Frank's, which is named after Austrian and Canadian businessman Frank Stronach, certainly has a unique look and feel to it. The design seems to be intended to feel like an authentic Austrian looking drink, which it certainly does. It also has a certain retro feeling to it, which is due in part to the script font and the weight lifter icon in the center of the can. Overall, it's a nice tasting and looking product, but not an original one, and we bet that Frank's would have done better had it entered the US market earlier. Still, if it can manage to leverage its Canadian success, it might find some room here.Reviewed on: 4/2/2008

BevNET Review: Featuring a mix of "classic" energy flavor and lime, this variety of Frank's Energy Drink was quite enjoyable. There's a moderate level of sweetness to it, which helps give the lime flavor some tang, resulting in a flavor that's the best of the three that we sampled. Plus, there's something about the can's green color that is more appealing than the other varieties -- perhaps it looks a bit more polished than the blue scheme. BevNET Review: Like so many other sugar free drinks out there, Frank's Sugar Free Energy Drink has an artificial sweetener flavor that unfortunately makes up the majority of the drink's flavor. That being said, we'd probably prefer a Frank's Sugar Free if it were based off of the lime variety. Packaging also has its flaws, using a washed out blue that is difficult to read compared to the bright colors of the Classic and Lime. Definitely our least favorite of the lineup.
