BevNET Review: Cherry Limeade, which is one of FRS' two 90 calorie (per bottle) offerings, features a flavor that’s definitely reminiscent of cherry limeade, but isn’t perfectly accurate. Still, as far as a functional beverage goes (especially one that’s sweetened with sugar and stevia), it’s definitely enjoyable enough to finish the whole bottle. Functionally, the product contains quercetin, catechins, and vitamins. While quercetin is not as immediate as caffeine, we’re sure that this product will provide a boost. Packaging is much stronger than FRS’ can-based energy drink offerings, with vibrant fruit images making for something that will definitely whet the palate. Overall, a well-executed product from FRS. BevNET Review: Featuring 25 grams of protein, this drink is a surprisingly easy-to-consume way to get a meaningful amount of protein. But this isn’t just a protein drink, FRS Orange Cream also features quercetin, catechins, and vitamins. Plus, the sugar- and stevia-sweetened body is an enjoyable take on the classic orange creamsicle. Packaging is a 12 oz. fully wrapped PET bottle, which, compared to FRS’ can line, is much more visually appealing. By moving away from the can – and adding a big dose of protein -- we think that FRS is better positioned to compete against other mainstream sports and functional beverages. BevNET Review: Going with a more traditional flavor, FRS’ Peach Mango is a 20 calorie all natural “healthy energy” beverage. Having lower calories means they’ve eliminated the sugar found in some of the other varieties, replacing it with sucralose instead (sucralose is the only sweetener in the drink). That being said, this variety has a much more pronounced aftertaste than the other flavors. However, it’s still tolerable and it doesn’t take away too much from our enjoyment of this beverage. Functionally, the product has a similar formulation, with quercetin, catechins, and vitamins added. Packaging has a very familiar-looking feel to it, thanks to the use of images of peaches and mangos. We like the use of a 12 oz. PET bottle, which has a slim shape that feels appropriate for a functional beverage of this type. Overall, for the lowest calorie flavor of the brand, this product is still very enjoyable and can definitely hold its own with the other flavors.Reviewed on: 3/8/2011
