BevNET Review:
Glaceau’s treatment of its grape flavor is typical of what this company tries to do, which is add a sweet hint of a fruit flavor to its crisp distilled water. This one smelled a bit too much like grape soda, but the scent of grapes is a tough one to replicate. Other than that, it goes down easy and tastes faintly of grape, in the way of the ice left in an emptied glass of grape soda. The purple label is attractive and distinctive; the question is whether fruitwater’s target consumers are going to want to try a grape product. We’re not sure, but if they do, they should try this one.

BevNET Review:
Perhaps the most logical starting point for the Fruitwater brand, Glaceau’s lemon flavor is almost perfectly executed, with clean lemon and sugar notes that don’t get in the way of the water’s crispness. It smells nice enough to wash with and doesn’t have any kind of artificial off-flavors or textures. All in all, we’ve got nothing to complain about but the size of the “fruitwater” on the label, and maybe the fact that they didn’t send us more to try. This is the type of product that we’d definitely order in a restaurant as it would go great with food.

BevNET Review:
What a nice product for a lunchtime treat. Glaceau’s lime-flavored Fruitwater is crisp, smells like a fresh lime dipped in sugar, drinks easily and isn’t too sweet or too aggressively lime-y. Instead it’s just a bit of citrus with a bit of sugar to tame it, as if they’d made perfectly balanced lime iced tea and then extracted the tea part. With 50 calories in a full 20-oz PET bottle, we wouldn’t suggest drinking Fruitwater as if it WERE water, but the cool translucent-green wrapper, natural ingredients and obvious emphasis on purity should attract many customers looking to augment their normal water intake with something flavored. The only complaint we have about the packaging is that the vertical “fruitwater” brand isn’t displayed in a prominent enough way, making it hard to make it out on the shelf. But the bottle and packaging are becoming iconic, anyway.

BevNET Review:
This is a nice-tasting, great-smelling, peach-flavored water with perhaps just a bit too much sweetness – it makes one aware that this is, indeed, a sugared beverage and not just something that’s getting its taste from essences. That having been noted, the packaging looks great, the peach flavor is highly accessible and matches well with food, and the water itself drinks very smoothly. Again, we believe the vertical “fruitwater” label should be a little bit bigger and better defined, but this product should sell and sell.

What we love about Fruitwater is that it doesn’t try to be anything that it’s not – so many of the drinks we try push too hard on the flavorings or the artificial sweeteners. They could learn something by trying Raspberry Fruitwater – it’s just a simple, clean-tasting water with a whisper of raspberry scent and sweetness, but nothing that gets in the way of its ability to quench your thirst. We love the scarlet color on the label; it really makes for a handsome package, but would like to see the vertical “fruitwater” trademark more prominently displayed. Definitely worth a try as an alternative to pure water, though.
