velvet green tea

Ganic’s Velvet Green Tea flavor is one of the more creative and enjoyable varieties of their lineup. Made with green tea and vanilla extract, the product has a mild earthy flavor. It’s easy to distinguish the vanilla and tea flavors, which is always a plus as far as flavored water goes. What’s even better is the drink’s zero calorie formulation, which doesn’t get in the way of this product having plenty of flavor. From a packaging standpoint, it’s nice looking, with a modern minimalist look that’s been well executed. The product utilizes a 17 oz. PET bottle, which has been given raised “ganic” lettering and a midsection that’s covered with a white paper label. However, of the Ganic varieties, this one is a bit harder to understand what’s inside the bottle. That’s the result of using ambiguous green leaves and the use of “Velvet”, which is a conceptual word that doesn’t really help whet the appetite. These choices ultimately impact the marketability of the product, which we think is somewhat strained in comparison to some of the other, more clearly described flavors. That’s unfortunate, especially since this is one of their best tasting flavors of the lineup. Cleaning up the label – and pairing down some of the flavors – might help this product stand out more.
