Product Type:Juice: Fruit Juice; Container: 10 oz PET
BevNET Review: Using a 100 percent juice blend that’s 100 percent natural, Genesis Today’s Acai Berry Juice is a somewhat viscous and potent tasting product. There are a variety of juices in his mixture, including acai, pear, apple, pineapple, grape, blueberry, pomegranate, cranberry, and black cherry. As a result, the drink’s acai flavor is just okay, with a somewhat processed feeling in comparison to some of the other players that are out there. They’ve also added a variety of other things to the mix, including vitamins, xanthan gum, and functional extracts (acai, grape seed, green tea). While they’ve clearly done this for health and functional purposes (the drink has 4700 ORAC per serving), it isn’t clearly explained, leaving the consumer to make sense of why the product has the quantities of certain ingredients that it has. While this is a problem for any product that attempts to promote antioxidants in their drink, the point is that we’d really like to see the flavor of the product improved, because that’s what will ultimately determine if consumers buy this repeatedly or not. There’s also the packaging, which is extremely cluttered with text to the point of hurting, not helping, the product’s ability to sell itself. In its current form, the product’s branding seems better suited for a larger format than a 10 oz. bottle. It’s not an overly appealing look, with a very technical vibe that sort of eliminates any chances of someone buying this for refreshment purposes. Overall, we think that this product needs some help.Reviewed on: 2/1/2010
