Review: Coconut Water

Posted: Jun 25, 2012 at 4:09 PM (Last Updated: Jul 02, 2012 at 11:04 AM)
Grace’s Coconut Water with Pulp is a coconut water that fits into the growing segment of the category that is value driven. What’s inside the can is sugary and sweet, which is no surprise given that the formula has added sugar (22g of total sugar per 12 oz. can). It also has preservatives (sodium metabisulphate), which certainly is not typical of the bigger brands in the space. That said, it’s not an overly appealing flavor, with the naturally delicate and hydrating flavor of coconut water being replaced by a sugary coating in your mouth. Visually, things aren’t much better. While the product has bilingual labeling and is easily identifiable as a coconut water, it scores very low when it comes to general aesthetics. Considering all of these issues, it’s hard to imagine what slice of the market this product can grab. Overall, this product needs a lot of work.
