Grandpa Lundquist Glogg Winter Beverage
Last Updated: 9/4/2008 10:00 AM
Grandpa Lundquist's "Glogg" is a traditional Scandinavian winter beverage that's designed to be served hot. Featuring an apple and grape juice mix that's spiced with what appears to be cloves, nutmeg, and cinnamon, it's certainly one of the more unique drinks that we've tasted. Really, it tastes like homemade apple cider that's been mixed with grape juice. The fruit flavor is pleasant, but there's a lot of spice to this drink -- and remains in your mouth well after consuming. Packaging is a 750ml bottle that looks like a wine or liquor bottle, which is probably appropriate for what this drink is going for. However, we're not sure who buys a drink like this, especially since Americans won't have any clue what a Scandinavian winter beverage is supposed to taste like. Perhaps a description on the front panel would help, but regardless, it's probably a drink that consumers will have to sample before buying. Overall, it's nice and enjoyable, but we have a hard time seeing anything more than a small niche market for this drink.
