BevNET Review: Like the Prime flavor that’s part of the core G-Series line, the Pro edition of Prime is designed to be consumed prior to physical activity. To accomplish this, the product delivers a dose of carbs (55g) and protein (20g) through the use of sucrose and milk protein isolate. It’s also fortified with electrolytes and a bevy of vitamins and minerals, including vitamin A, vitamins C, vitamin D, vitamin E, B vitamins, calcium, iron, biotin, iodine, magnesium, zinc and manganese. From a flavor perspective, the strawberry flavor is almost dead on to what you’ll find in a bottle of strawberry milk: sugary, rich, and with a candy like strawberry flavor. Now if this were a beverage designed purely for refreshment, it would be time for a reformulation. However, since this is largely going up against protein drinks and similar functional beverages, this product is actually quite good, delivering a more natural flavor and minimal aftertaste. Still, it’s a bit heavy, both in terms of its high calorie content and its extremely viscous body. Regardless of the benefits of the product, we think that this could be an issue for consumers who have countless lighter alternatives (such as other products in the G Series line). Packaging is a non-resealable Tetra Pak container, which, given the thickness of the liquid, is a bit awkward to drink out of. Plus, it doesn’t look as nice as its Recover, both because of its lack of an orange screw top and its smaller size making the text look even more cluttered. Overall, it’s a credible product with good execution, but it’s not the best product in the lineup. Reviewed on: 5/24/2010
