Cranberry Pomegranate

Product Type:Tea: Sweetened; Container: 12 oz can
BevNET Review: Blending cranberry and pomegranate with the subtle earthy flavor of yerba mate, Guayaki’s “Cranberry Pomegranate” flavored Sparkling Yerba Mate is a very palatable and mainstream-oriented beverage. The flavor is sweet (they use cane sugar), but not overbearing, while the fruit flavorings impart a raspberry like flavor. Being so close to this ubiquitous tea flavor is a very smart move, with the carbonation being the only element to this tea beverage that is going to be new to the consumer. Plus, we think that the natural caffeine content (80mg per can) gives this product a nice opportunity to grab consumers from the energy drink category. Visually, the 12 oz. can has a very clean, professional look, but it lacks the playfulness that Guayaki has given to its other products. We would only really see this being an issue when it’s right next to their other products as they will likely catch the eye quicker. Overall, a very enjoyable product from Guayaki.Reviewed on: 4/26/2012

Classic Gold

Product Type:Tea: Sweetened; Container: 12 oz can
BevNET Review: As far as Guayaki’s Sparkling Yerba Mate flavors, Classic Gold is our favorite. The name “Classic” is a perfect way to describe this product, which has the familiar tea-like flavor that you’ll find in Guayaki’s flagship non-carbonated line. However, they’ve kicked it up with some carbonation, a modest amount of sweetness, and flavorings that include lime juice, prune juice, tamarind juice, and ginger juice. The resulting product is extremely flavorful, with just the right amount of carbonation and sweetness. Each 12 oz. can has just under 100 calories (65 per 8 oz. serving), making this a nice choice for those who are watching calories but don't like non-caloric sweeteners. The clean, earthy packaging works quite well for a product called Classic Gold -- it obviously doesn’t need any fruit images to explain what it is. Overall, a very nicely executed product from Guayaki. Reviewed on: 4/26/2012

Grapefruit Ginger

Product Type:Tea: Sweetened; Container: 12 oz can
BevNET Review: With key ingredients including sparkling water, ginger and grapefruit juices, yerba mate, agave nectar, and stevia, Guayaki’s Sparkling Grapefruit Ginger Yerba Mate packs in a load of flavor with only 45 calories per can. The use of fruit juices does a great job of masking the stevia, while also making the product taste extremely natural and accurate. And with 80 mg of caffeine per can, this product will certainly pack some kick. The sparkling water adds a nice bit of bite to the flavor, while also giving the product a different mouthfeel. The packaging is a 12 oz. slim can is cleanly designed, but lacking in personality compared to Guayaki’s other products (it’s an especially stark contrast compared with their 16 oz. cans). That said, we understand the need to make this product line look different since it’s the only sparkling line in the Guayaki family. However, adding some personality to this product would definitely help the product stand out against the other carbonated beverages that are in the natural space. Overall, a very nice tasting product and while it is visually clean-looking, we’d like to see them take it further.Reviewed on: 3/27/2012
