The latest rendition of GURU Energy Drink is one that goes back to the brand's roots, offering a flavor that's based on "classic energy" flavor. However, their new strategy is to offer a "wholesome" approach, but not one that requires consumers to change their taste habits. To that end, they've used a USDA Organic certified formulation, natural caffeine, and herbal ingredients. Not found in the product are artificial vitamin ingredients, taurine, high fructose corn syrup, or straight caffeine. As far as the taste goes, it's definitely "classic energy" drink taste at the core. However, it has a cleaner and smoother feeling in the mouth — so it's a nice job on the formulation front. On the outside, we aren't so sure that the new look is better than the more colorful cans of the old lineup. The new look has polish and the message is clear, but it has less personality than the design of their flavored entries (which we are sad to see are no longer part of the line up). Overall, it's clean and enjoyable, but we think that GURU could do a little more to make this product stand out, both in flavor and package.
