Product Type: Energy: Regular; Container: 12 fl oz can
BevNET Review: It has been a while since we first tried Guru's classic energy drink and it has certainly been improved upon. The flavor is Guru's closest thing to a "traditional" energy drink, but it's hardly traditional in terms of flavor. Utilizing lemon juice concentrate, white grape juice concentrate, and cane juice as part of an organic formulation, Guru has a much more natural flavor than most mainstream entries. In addition, the product derives its caffeine exclusively from guarana seed extract (resulting in 97 mg of caffeine per serving). The silver, red and black can is modern-looking and attractive, especially when paired up with the rest of the Guru lineup. Overall, a significantly improved product.

A party in your mouth!

I first tried this drink a year ago, and even the first sip was enlightening. I'm very fond of the mental and physical stimulation and endorphins it releases without the use of chemically engineered caffeine, sugar, and synthetic vitamins that the more popular energy drinks contain. Over the year this has beeen a welcome change for me as opposed to my favored Rockstar drinks and Monster drinks, which feel good as well but leave my head pounding a couple hours after consumption. If they had Guru in this small town I live in I'd buy ONLY these and wouldn't be tempted to give into what's available, which are Redbulls and Rockstars, etc. (convential energy drinks) As for taste, it's a festively sweet and slightly bitter, invigorating taste sensation, in fact, it taste like gummi worms. And hey, it is 100% au naturale, certified 91% organic ingrediants. Just read the label. What's not to like???

Seriously: 100% natural organic energy drink. Gives you energy if you need to run around the city. Gives your creative mind a boost when working in the office. PS! Without guru, I would have no personality whatsoever :D

This is a drink that you HAVE to chug. I generally drink slow, but after my first sip, the aftertaste was too overpowering, and i chugged half the can. When I did this, the aftertaste wasn't so bad and the flavor was somewhat enjoyable. Worth a try now and then, and it's all natural and has a decent amount of caffeine.

Great natural fruit juice taste. I love Guru.

This particular drink is geared for healthier minded individuals that want drinks without the chemicals and goes towards the natural tastes of juice concentrates instead of syrupy sugars. The taste is not as good as Red Bull but is really completely different and just as good in a different way. You can taste a bit of herbs and vitamins, but it's really not that bad. The only drink that might best this is called Syzmo, only because it's the only certified organic drink out there that I know of. It's aimed to best drinks like this, but I have yet to taste it. I have it sitting in my fridge and I am saving it for work tomorrow, so I will write a review on that tomorrow. Right now Guru is high on my list. I also want to try the Cocaine drink....although it sounds a bit scary. I guess it's got 3x the caffeine as Red Bull....yikes. It's supposed to last really long though without a sugar crash because it uses more simple sugars than complex I believe....ahhh I could be wrong, who knows, just go look it up.

changed my mind on this

Sure, it's cane sugar and all natural, but the taste is really pretty bad. I'd take a good old red bull over this any day.

How about no added sugar?

Guru gets its sweetness from the fruit juices! It may have been over looked as a feature in the BEVNET review, but that's its biggest feature of all! It's the Izzy of small energy drinks. That is an enormous selling factor for some dieters. Many people are on diets restrictive of all or many sugar/sweetening additives. My mother for example has been told by her nutritionist to stay away from all refined sugars, and syrups. She can have Guru, where she can't have any of the more popular energy drinks. Guru may do better with a more "crunchy," "hippy," "new-age" brand because I think it's major selling points are for that crowd, and not the "sunny-d," "Xtreme" sports market apparently targeted by its mar-com materials, and packaging. As a marketing professional, I have to take a star off for that. I think the only reason BEVNET missed its possibly greatest feature, in their review, was Guru's misguided branding. It's an energy drink for health food stores, and that's where you'll usually find it. I love it for what it really is and If I could get it down the street, I'd get it every day.
