Inko's Tea

Inko's Tea

Manufacturer's Brand Overview [Edit]

Due to its proprietary combination of all natural ingredients, Inko's has a totally unique flavor profile. There are no green-tea-like grassy undertones. Apart from other Iced Tea marketers, Inko's offers only brewed White tea. It is our singular focus -- no infusion confusion, no brand dilution, nothing added/nothing needed. Inko's naturally sweet taste allows us to add only a minimal amount of crystalline fructose to provide a satisfying drink under 60 calories per 16 oz bottle.

Product Type:Tea: Sweetened; Container: 15.5 oz can
BevNET Review: Blending green tea and lemonade makes for a beverage that has almost universal appeal -- and that seems to be exactly what Inko’s is going for with this variety. The flavor is extremely enjoyable and refreshing, with just the right amount of green tea, lemon, and sweetness. We like that they’ve used green tea rather than black tea (the traditional base for this type of product), which gives it a subtle earthy note at the finish. At 100 calories and 26g of sugar (fructose crystals) per can, the product is something that makes for a nice middle ground between the high calorie and sugar products from the big brands and the unsweetened products that can be found in the natural channel. Visually, the 16 oz. white can has a clean and easy-to-read design that has a premium vibe. However, the gold accent color makes the white text behind it somewhat difficult to read, depending on the lighting. Still, it’s obvious what this drink is and the polished look definitely sets the tone for the extremely enjoyable liquid inside. Overall, a very nice job from Inko’s. Reviewed on: 8/28/2012

Citrus Black Currant Oolong Tea

Product Type:Tea: Sweetened; Container: 15.5 oz can
BevNET Review: The Citrus Black Currant Oolong Tea variety of Inko’s canned teas appears to be their take on the classic raspberry iced tea flavor that is so popular with ready-to-drink tea companies. The formulation is a good one, starting with the base of brewed oolong tea that is flavorful and smooth to the finish. From there, the black currant gives the product a tart berrylike note before a splash of citrus flavor helps round out and connect the fruit flavor with that of the tea. And of course, there’s sweetness to the drink (fructose crystals), which we’d describe as moderately sweet (26g per can). All in all, it’s a very pleasant tasting product. Visually, we like the use of a tall 16 oz. can, which is definitely a very timely and marketable package format. With a white background and purple accent color along with clean text and fruit illustrations, they’ve done a nice job of creating something that’s appealing to the eye and the senses. If there’s anything on the package that we’d tweak (and admittedly it’s small), it’s the coloring of the flavor name, which puts all of the visual emphasis on black currant. Overall, Citrus Black Currant Oolong is our favorite flavor of the line. Reviewed on: 8/28/2012

Mango Passionfruit Rooibos Tea

Product Type:Tea: Sweetened; Container: 15.5 oz Can
BevNET Review: Using rooibos tea, which is a caffeine-free plant often referred to as “red tea,” this variety has a pleasant tropical flavor thanks to its use of passionfruit and rooibos. The combination of these flavors makes for something that tastes less sweet, despite it having the same sugar content (from crystalline fructose) as the other varieties, and the product is very balanced. The design of the 16 oz can, which features a white background and red secondary color, is clean and appealing. However, we’d still like the coloring and font treatment on the flavor name to be a little easier to read. Overall, a very enjoyable product. Reviewed on: 8/28/2012

White Tea with Lemon

Product Type:Tea: Sweetened; Container: 16 oz
BevNET Review: The latest flavor to be added to the Inko’s White Tea lineup is a surprisingly simple one: Lemon. The mixture is a hit, blending the delicate flavor of white tea with just a touch of sweetness and a splash of lemon extract. It’s a well balanced mix that’s light on the palate and clean to the finish. On the outside, this product’s packaging is attractive and easy to understand, with a gray band providing some contrast to the other colors. A lemon graphic gives it some added appeal, thus making it have a leg up over the “Original” variety of Inko’s. That being said, we suspect that this variety might prove to the be the most marketable flavor of the lineup. Overall, this is an excellent entry to the Inko’s line.Reviewed on: 5/6/2009

Honeysuckle White Tea (unsweetened)

Product Type:Tea: Sweetened; Container: 16 fl oz glass
BevNET Review: Inko's second unsweetened entry is a honeysuckle flavored tea. With a mildly floral and fruity aroma/taste, this product really doesn't need any sweetener. The only thing that's a little suspect is the aroma, which is reminiscent of potpourri. That being said, it's a good product, but one that will more likely appeal to the tea purist rather than the consumer that's trying to or needs to avoid sugar. In addition, we think that the potential for sweetened flavors is much greater than unsweetened.Reviewed on: 9/30/2005

Cherry Vanilla White Tea

Product Type:Tea: Sweetened; Container: 16 fl oz glass
BevNET Review: Inko's Cherry Vanilla is, at least in our unscientific opinion, going to get the best pull through of the new Inko's flavors. The cherry vanilla label is bright and attractive, plus cherry vanilla is the most mainstream of the bunch. However, as far as taste goes it's the least like the other Inko's flavors in that the cherry vanilla flavoring is much stronger than that of the white tea. This is really a double-edged sword as hardcore Inko's drinkers might shy away from this product, while new drinkers are more likely to enjoy it. Overall, a good effort from Inko's that will help their mainstream marketability, but it's definitely not our favorite.Reviewed on: 9/29/2005

Lychee White Tea

Product Type:Tea: Sweetened; Container: 16 fl oz glass
BevNET Review: Using Lychee (a tree fruit native to Southern China) is a bit of a gamble for the folks at Inko's, but one that they should hope will pay off, as it continues to be a trendy choice for high end cocktails. In any event, the execution of this product is quite good as the product's white tea base and lychee flavors combine to create a taste that is but run-of-the-mill for an RTD tea. Its mildly sweet flavor is on par with other Inko's varieties, while the lychee gives it a smooth finish. We're not sure how quickly consumers in the US will embrace a lychee tea, but we're sure that once they do, they'll come back for more.Reviewed on: 9/29/2005

Apricot White Tea

Product Type:Tea: Sweetened; Container: 16 fl oz glass
BevNET Review: Inko's Apricot White Tea is the most natural tasting flavor from their September 2005 additions and, therefore, is our favorite of the bunch. The apricot flavor is light, but flavorful, and it gives the product a nicely balanced tea-and-fruit-flavored body. It has a sophisticated yet mellow flavor that is big on taste, but not big on calories or sugar. The packaging is nice and bright, but we can't help but question why they chose a flavor that's relatively close in style to their peach flavor. Still, the execution is second to none and it definitely has enough merit to be added to the Inko's lineup. Reviewed on: 9/29/2005

Blueberry White Tea

Product Type:Tea: Sweetened; Container: 16 fl oz glass
BevNET Review: Inko's Blueberry White Tea is a wonderful addition to the product line. It offers the same great brew of delicate white tea that you'll find in all of the Inko's, plus a very mild splash of blueberry extract. The fruit flavor is really only noticeable on the finish of the flavor -- which works well with the white tea. The resulting beverage offers a well balanced flavor that is quenching and refreshing. In addition, this is the first flavor that we have seen to use the new custom cap -- definitely a nice way to spruce up the bottle. Overall, a great beverage -- and only 60 calories and 14g of carbs per bottle.Reviewed on: 5/12/2004

Honeydew White Tea

Product Type:Tea: Sweetened; Container: 16 fl oz glass
BevNET Review: Inko's Honeydew features a light brew of delicate white tea with honeydew extract. The flavors combine well -- the white tea gives the product a light tea body and the honeydew adds a subtle but distinct flavor to the product. We never thought a melon flavor would complement tea the way that it does in Inko's Honeydew White Tea....This flavor is definitely one of our new favorites! Perhaps our only criticism is that the label looks too similar to the mint variety, but we won't hold that against them.Reviewed on: 5/12/2004

Hint O' Mint White Tea

Product Type:Tea: Sweetened; Container: 16 fl oz glass
BevNET Review: Inko's Hint O' Mint is quite possibly our favorite unsweetened ready to drink tea. Why? The blend of white tea, ginger, and mint makes a truly refreshing product with a light but complex taste. We really do not miss the carbs in this product. In addition, it's very nice to drink a product that is made with real ingredients -- not flavors from a lab. The tea is made with premium white tea and flavored with real mint and ginger. Why is this important? Well, the product doesn't leave a bad taste in your mouth and leaves you with peace of mind in not having to worry about what you just consumed. Overall, this product is just plain fabulous -- original, refreshing, full of flavor, and packaged with a nicely designed label. Reviewed on: 1/16/2004

White Peach White Tea

Product Type:Tea: Sweetened; Container: 16 fl oz glass
BevNET Review: Inko's White Peach White Tea is another fine addition to the Inko's brand. Despite having the same amount of carbs as the original, the White Peach flavor is definitely the sweetest tasting of the three flavors to date. We would likely attribute this to the flavor of the peach, which for whatever reason helps heighten the sweetness. White tea combines very nicely with the white peach flavor and results in a subtle and relaxing flavor -- it's quite good. We really feel that this flavor proves that Inko's truly knows what they're doing when it comes to white tea -- it's not just some fluke that they were able to create a good flavor or two. This being said, the next step for Inko's may be the packaging -- that's the only legitimate suggestion that we can give to a line of products that tastes this good.Reviewed on: 1/14/2004

Inko's White Tea

Product Type:Tea: Sweetened; Container: 16 fl oz glass
BevNET Review: Inko's is a premium tea made with a very fine brew of white tea. If you've never had white tea, you're in for a real treat. The delicate flavor of the tea is excellent and very refreshing. In addition to the brew of tea, the product has a very mild sweetness as it is flavored with 7g of sugars (fructose crystals). Finally, they've added a very subtle amount of fresh ginger which gives the product a super light ginger finish. Overall, this product is truly refreshing and original. The only improvement we might suggest is a nicer bottle (preferably a proprietary bottle) that will help this product have the premium image that it deserves.Reviewed on: 3/18/2003
