Jet Lag

Manufacturer's Brand Overview [Edit]

Our Jet Lag Beverages have five vitamins, six minerals, and three herbs that specifically give your body what it needs to function properly, and relieve jet lag symptoms by managing stress and fatigue, supporting your immune system, help with muscle function to relieve cramps in your legs, and energize your body. Our Jet Lag Beverages are not your typical sports drinks, health drinks, or relaxation beverages. They are not designed to give you energy or help you sleep. Our beverages work on the biological premise that your body is smart enough to know what it needs to function properly, and apply the necessary vitamins and minerals accordingly so your body can continue working effectively. Giving your body what it actually needs, rather than satisfying what your mind thinks it needs, provides better health results overall.

San Francisco

Product Type:Water: Enhanced; Container: 16.9 oz PET
BevNET Review: The San Francisco variety of Jet Lag is formulated to be a meyer lemon and pear flavored water. The product is sweetened with sucralose, which keeps it at zero calories and sugar free. The flavor is definitely citrus, although it seems like a stretch to call it “meyer” lemon. Plus, the lemon flavor and sweetener aftertaste quickly mask the pear flavor (we couldn’t really taste it beyond the first couple of sips). Despite the clean and appealing San Francisco graphic, the positioning of this product feels incomplete. Being focused on jet lag -- a place where pills are the most widely available option -- seems like a tough niche for a beverage of this size (you certainly can’t put it in your bag and take it on a plane). And when you look at the bottle, the emphasis on San Francisco is confusing rather than something that helps the consumer connect the dots to the intended purpose (and Northern California inspired flavor choice) of the drink. We’d suggest that they focus on what is more widely marketable (that it’s a nice tasting zero calorie product) and making the jet lag benefits a secondary part of the equation. Otherwise, we think the niche is a bit too limited, especially given the current execution. Reviewed on: 10/3/2011

Beijing

Product Type:Tea: Sweetened; Container: 16.9 oz PET
BevNET Review: As far the Jet Lag lineup goes, the Beijing variety, which is apple and peach flavored black tea, is our favorite flavor. This product uses a zero calorie formulation with sucralose as its sweetener of choice. The apple and peach flavors blend nicely together, hiding most of the sucralose flavor. To that end, this is a very solid tasting zero calorie tea. Functionally, the product aspires to help prevent and reduce the symptoms associated with jet lag. They’ve added a variety of ingredients, including vitamins, minerals, and herbal ingredients (ginkgo, ginseng, grape seed), which they claim are helpful to their intended function. Packaging is a 16.9 oz. PET bottle, which, despite the stock bottle, has a clean visual presentation. However, the visual emphasis is too heavily skewed towards Beijing and you’ll have to turn the bottle on its side to read the flavor or the brand name (a critical flaw, in our opinion). Putting Beijing inside or below the picture (and making it smaller) would create some more room to give the flavor proper billing. Finally, it’s questionable as to how big of a market exists for a product that’s so focused on an ailment as specific as jet lag. Refocusing a bit and emphasizing the zero calorie (which isn’t mentioned anywhere on the front of the bottle) would be a good place to start. Overall, what’s inside the bottle is pretty good (we’d say that for all of the flavors), but we feel like there’s missed opportunity with the brand’s positioning. Reviewed on: 10/3/2011
