Sparkling Juicy Juice

Manufacturer's Brand Overview [Edit]

Kids love carbonated drinks, especially as they get older, become more independent, and see other kids drinking it. That's why we developed new Sparkling Juicy Juice Fruit Juice Beverage, an all-natural, lightly carbonated drink that provides one serving of fruit. It's lower in sugar when compared to regular Juicy Juice and tastes great!

Sparkling Apple

Product Type:Juice: Sparkling Juice; Container: 8.4 oz Can
BevNET Review: Of the three Juicy Juice flavors, this one had the most appealing and well executed fruit flavor. For us, it comes down to simplicity, with a 70 percent juice mixture that relies only on apple juice, water, natural flavors, citric acid, ascorbic acid, and added carbonation. There’s no sugar added, which makes for a product that drinks like slightly watered down apple juice. The apple flavor is pretty bold, with a Granny Smith like flavor that’s very refreshing and enjoyable. Packaging is colorful and appealing, with the familiar Juicy Juice name likely to help this product get off to a quick start against its mainly independent competition. However, placing the Nestle logo on top of the Juicy Juice logo gives the Nestle brand prominence that seems unnecessary and distracting. Overall, we really like the taste and the use of the Juicy Juice brand. This is a product that definitely has a strong chance of success. Reviewed on: 6/18/2010

Sparkling Berry

Product Type:Juice: Sparkling Juice; Container: 8.4 oz Can
BevNET Review: Utilizing a blend of 70 percent juice, Juicy Juice’s Sparkling Berry is a pleasant tasting product that is slightly less sweet than some of the other carbonated juice products that we’ve sampled. And clocking in at 90 calories per 8.4 oz. can, it’s lighter in the nutritional department as well. From a taste perspective, this product is very drinkable and parent friendly, with a flavor that’s big on fruit flavor but isn’t sickly sweet (it tastes slightly watered down). There’s a heavy dose of apple flavor to the mix, which, at least compared to competing products that use white grape juice, is preferred. The “berry” flavor is very much a raspberry and grape flavor, which is no surprise given that both of those juices are included in the product. Otherwise, there’s some added flavoring with helps increase the tartness a bit. Packaging definitely seems to have the consumer and parent in mind, with a background and color scheme that look like your typical kids' product. Using the familiar Juicy Juice logo is a plus, especially since this has brand equity as a high quality and consistently wholesome product. Slapping the Nestle logo on top seems somewhat gratuitous, although it might help further this brand as being a “premium” product that can be trusted. Overall, despite not being 100 percent juice, this product definitely has what it takes to be a leading player in the carbonated juice space.Reviewed on: 6/18/2010

Sparkling Orange

Product Type:Juice: Sparkling Juice; Container: 8.4 oz Can
BevNET Review: Sparkling Orange is another enjoyable and likeable flavor from Juicy Juice. It starts out with a very pleasant 70 percent juice base of apple, orange, and tangerine juices, which gives the product a citrus heavy formulation. There’s a note of apple juice on the finish, but it otherwise doesn’t really get in the way of the fruit flavor. And that’s something that we’re definitely willing to tolerate given the product’s no sugar added formulation. At 90 calories and 21 grams of sugar per can, the product clocks in below some of the products that it competes with. However, it’s hard to say whether lower calories and sugar will prevail against other products that have higher juice content. On the packaging front, this product utilizes the same 250ml can that competing products are using, which, since they are targeting kids and their calorie conscious parents, seems like the appropriate format. It’s colorful and attractive, with Juicy Juice’s brand equity likely having a big impact with the parents that are buying this for their kids. However, we suspect that it will likely do better with younger kids than tweens and teens, with other brands having more of a “cool” factor than this one. Overall, a very strong entry from Juicy Juice. Reviewed on: 6/18/2010
