Mojito Green Tea

Product Type:Juice: Coconut Water and Juice; Container: 12 oz Glass
BevNET Review: The most ambitious flavor of the Karma Life lineup is Mojito Green Tea. Not only does it have a base of coconut water, but it also has the flavors of green tea and mint. While the combination is definitely palatable, that’s about all that it is. The simplicity of the coconut water is gone, with too many flavors competing for attention. And as you drink more, it all blends together to the point where you can’t distinguish one flavor from another. The 12 oz. bottle has a full wrap label, which has been given a very busy looking design. While the design is definitely something different, the emphasis is on mint and tea leaves. Overall, it’s a very unique flavor pairing, but simplifying both the flavor and appearance of the product would be an improvement. testReviewed on: 11/7/2011

Natural

Product Type:Juice: Coconut Water and Juice; Container: 12 oz Glass
BevNET Review: Compared with the countless other “natural” coconut waters that we’ve sampled, this one tastes noticeably different. The best way that we can describe it is that the balance of sweet and salty seems to be off, with the sweet being much more dominant. Whether that’s the result of using coconut water from concentrate (and from what are supposedly coconuts from India), addition of kokum berry extract (which also serves as a natural preservative), or something else, we can’t tell you. However, the flavor isn’t up to par with the competition's. On the packaging front, it’s fine, but doesn’t jump out at you more than other products on the shelves today (unless you are very focused on glass packaging). Overall, we think that this product needs to do a better job of having a selling point that makes it stand out from the cluttered coconut water category.Reviewed on: 11/7/2011

Vanilla

Product Type:Juice: Coconut Water and Juice; Container: 12 oz Glass
BevNET Review: Vanilla is a flavor that is definitely outside the box when it comes to the coconut water category, but, in the case of Karma Life, it makes for their best tasting flavor. We’d caution that our reason for saying this is that it masks the unidentifiable flavor that is found in their “Natural” variety and that it’s less complex than the “Mojito” flavor. Otherwise, the vanilla flavoring tastes like the vanilla flavoring that is typically found in RTD coffee drinks rather than vanilla been or extract. The other issue is that the vanilla flavor isn’t something that really complements the coconut water -- and it’s certainly not as appealing as some of the other flavors that are on the market today. Honestly, we wonder if their use of vanilla is directly the result of ZICO using Chocolate. Unfortunately -- and as is typically the case -- chocolate beats out vanilla when it comes to flavoring coconut water. Overall, interesting concept, but it’s hard to see a big market for this.
