The ginger flavor of KeVita’s Master Brew Kombucha is our favorite flavor of its initial kombucha lineup. It’s no coincidence that ginger is so popular among kombucha brands: the its natural spice does a great job of masking the underlying fermented flavor. In the case of this product, the company has married its base KeVita probiotic culture with a kombucha culture, flavored it with ginger, and sweetened it with a touch of stevia (there’s also sugar in the kombucha) to create a product that’s USDA Organic and has only 20 calories and 4g of sugar per 8 oz. serving. Despite this, it’s definitely a full-bodied kombucha that can, at least in terms of flavor, hold its own with pretty much any brand out there. The company has also done a great job with the packaging, which is both the best design we’ve seen from KeVita and one of the nicer looking ones in the kombucha category. It starts with a 15.2 oz. glass bottle, which is the same shape as Kevita’s standard bottle but with amber instead of clear glass. The label has an earthy and artisanal color palette and vibe to it. The look of this label is, at least in our opinion, much cleaner and more appealing than its flagship product. Hopefully some of this approach can eventually make its way over to that product line as well. Overall, this is a very enjoyable product with solid execution.
