BevNET Review: Sparkling water and lemon is a classic combination and Sparkling Essence has definitely created a very palatable interpretation. There’s a very natural tasting lemon flavor thanks to the use of extract and oil, but we think that they’ve overdone it just a bit too much. The result is something that has an acidic finish that’s stronger than we’d like. Hopefully they can dial it down in the future. On the packaging front, they’ve done a great job of creating a product that looks sophisticated and appealing, using a 12 oz. slim can that makes great use of fruit imagery. We think that consumers will be able to easily understand this product’s flavor, although the lack of sweetener will likely be a surprise to most people who pick up this product. Overall, an enjoyable product that, aside from having a bit too much lemon flavor, is well executed.
