BevNET Review: Compared with the other flavors, this flavor of Lo-Gly has a bit more stevia flavor, but it’s still quite enjoyable as far as stevia sweetened products go. Using 17 percent juice, the product has a tart, full bodied pomegranate flavor, but with a much lower calorie (45 calories) and carb count (10g) than sugar sweetened drinks. The addition of agave seems to help cut the stevia, while also giving the drink the low glycemic index that the marketer is looking for. Packaging is, like the rest of the Lo-Gly line, the biggest area needing improvement. The name, Lo-Gly, doesn’t lend itself to any brand loyalty. And with the white background label and many nutritional callouts that are found on the bottle, potential consumers might disregard this product as an unpleasant tasting diet drink. Overall, it’s a great tasting juice drink, but the branding is something that needs to be reevaluated if the plan is to attract consumers outside of the low glycemic conscious market. BevNET Review: Lo-Gly’s Pomegranate Mojito is a low-calorie, low-glycemic beverage that’s made with 12 percent juice and sweetened with agave and stevia. For a drink with only 40 calories per 10 oz., the flavor is surprisingly drinkable, with the pomegranate and mint flavors hiding any of the stevia flavor. The agave provides a subtle note that enhances the overall “mojito” flavor. All in all, what’s inside the bottle is definitely enjoyable as far as low calorie beverages go. On the outside, they have a lot of work to do, starting with the somewhat unappealing name. Specifically, it’s really hard to connect with a brand called “Lo-Gly” and the packaging is a bit too in-your-face with all of the dietary related callouts. In fact, after seeing the package, we were pleasantly surprised when it didn’t taste like a diet product. Plus, the brand is essentially a line of pomegranate drinks (pomegranate juice is found in every flavor), so calling out this connection (or better using it as part of the branding) might help this product if they were to rework the branding. Overall, the taste is good, but we feel like they could do a lot more with the packaging and branding.Reviewed on: 4/22/2011
