BevNET Review: In terms of taste, this was our favorite flavor of the lineup. Still, it's not really anything that stands out -- just regular old black tea with a dash of sweetness and something that resembles lemon flavor. Otherwise, we're not really sure what this product is trying to be. Is it functional? Is it a tea? Right now, its mix of both of these things and is a bit confusing, mainly because it's not overly good at either one. We'd suggest a stronger tea flavor, dropping the HFCS in favor of sugar, and punching up the label design (horizontal text would be a great starting point).Reviewed on: 9/29/2008

BevNET Review: Maybe it's just us, but it seems really weird that a product founded by a dentist would be loaded with high fructose corn syrup. We honestly expected something that was on par with HonestAde (e.g. watered down) in terms of sweetness. Regardless, they've managed to create a pretty unique tasting orange mango flavor for this product. Unfortunately, we're not sure that "unique" actually means "good" in this situation, which is mainly the result of the syrupy finish that the drink has. Otherwise, they've got an interesting angle to this functional drink, although it's easy to miss since they don't do a great job of branding it into the product. BevNET Review: Malava Relax's Pink Lemonade is a sweet (to the tune of 29g of sugars) beverage that basically tastes exactly like an RTD juice. Using high fructose corn syrup, the product doesn't really drink like a functional product. Its main selling point is the use of organic kava kava, but that isn't promoted heavily enough on the front of the label. Furthermore, there's a bigger question about this product's functionality -- do consumers care about a drink that "relaxes, calms, clarifies"? We're honestly not sure, especially since it isn't the functionality that is tangible immediately after drinking the product. Overall, it tastes decent, but it needs a lot of improvement if it's going to sell well in the category that it wants to be in.Reviewed on: 7/5/2007

BevNET Review: Sangria is one of the "Lite" flavors in the Malava line. Using sucralose and 2g of sugars (from juice), the product has a flavor that's much more like a grape juice than sangria. Perhaps "sangria" is a nice way to describe the functional flavor of the drink, but that's a risky marketing move. Otherwise, we find the images rather relaxing, although it doesn't really help us understand what the product's functionality is all about. Rotating the vertical text might help, as would better placement of the product's mission statement. Reviewed on: 7/5/2007
