Of the products in the Mamma Chia Chia & Greens line, Grateful Greens is probably the closest sibling to a traditional green juice. It blends spinach, kale, spirulina, broccoli, barley grass, wheatgrass, and spearmint with the company's base of hydrated chia seeds (along with apple juice and lime juice). It doesn’t have any added sugar -- a point that’s not called out on the label -- and the product has a pretty heavy “green” flavor to it. Still, it doesn’t seem like it’s trying to taste exactly like a green juice with chia, but rather a chia drink with greens in it. To that end, the company's done a great job of keeping the flavor profile light. It’s neither too sweet or heavy on the greens, and we’d describe it as being mild and smooth. And we really love the note of spearmint that hits your tongue at the finish. Ultimately, what Mamma Chia has created is right in line with its flagship products, and the company's current customers will likely enjoy these as well. As for bringing it new consumers, this line definitely feels, thanks to the greens, positioned as an even healthier option than the original. Visually, the product is clearly part of the Mamma Chia family, almost to the point where they simply look like new flavors (rather than a whole new line, like Mamma Chia's energy offerings). The key changes being that the company is using a clear label and that it has added colored bars at the top and bottom. It’s definitely a readable look, and we think it’s pretty intuitive as to what the product is all about. All in all, Grateful Greens is a well-executed product that’s a great place to start when trying the new Chia & Greens line.
