Asian Pear Tea

Product Type:Tea: Sweetened; Container: 16 oz glass
BevNET Review: Mate Fusion's Asian Pear drinks like a juice and tea blend, but unfortunately most of the fruit flavor comes in the form of the white grape juice that has been added to this drink. The pear flavor is there, but it's just not enough, especially with the level of sweetness where it is. The mate flavor plays second fiddle, especially as your palate continues to soak in the sugary flavor of the drink. Really, we think that this is a good concept, just one that misses the mark in its formulation. Label design, on the other hand, gives off a look of professionalism that we don't often see in a newcomer. It's clean, wholesome, and inviting, which is about all we can ask for from a label. However, the stock gold cap undermines the overall look. Overall, mediocre flavorReviewed on: 4/4/2008

Blueberry Acai Tea

Product Type:Tea: Sweetened; Container: 16 oz glass
BevNET Review: Mate Fusion's Blueberry Acai variety sounds like it could be a pretty marketable flavor for this brand. However, like the other varieties, it's the 10% white grape juice that leads to the demise of this product. We're not ones to appreciate filler juice, especially when it corrupts the blueberry acai flavor and overpowers the earthy tones that you'd typically see from yerba mate. The product's best asset is its packaging, which, while it does use a stock bottle, has a relatively polished look to it. On the other hand it seems quite similar to another NY brand of tea. Overall, decent, but needs work, especially in the flavor department.Reviewed on: 4/4/2008

Pomegranate Tea

Product Type:Tea: Sweetened; Container: 16 oz glass
BevNET Review: Pomegranate was our favorite variety of Mate Fusion. It's not because the product delivers a really natural pomegranate taste, but rather because the tanginess of the white grape blends in a bit more with the tanginess that one expects from pomegranate. Otherwise, the product really drinks like a juice product more than a tea, especially since very little tea flavor makes its way through the sweet body of this product. Like the other flavors, it's really product's label design that's it's strong point, but we don't think that design alone will carry this product. Reviewed on: 4/4/2008
