BevNET Review: Mazu Gold, which is sold through a multi-level marketing program, is a product that is designed to "boost your immune system, protect your cells, and elevate your senses." The 15 oz. bottle is designed to be consumed in 1 or 2 ounce portions, which is a good idea — the product's taste is rough. Inside the bottle, you've got a thick bodied formulation (thanks, xanthan gum!) that's heavy on tart berry flavor, which is no surprise given the use of black currant and grape juices. Functionally, the product relies on a proprietary "Absorbanol" blend, which includes ecklonia cava (for antioxidant), humic nutrients (presumably for anti inflammatory benefits), and aloe vera. Aside from having extraordinarily high vitamin B-12 content and a somewhat tough to choke down flavor, the reasoning behind the suggested serving size is not well explained. Perhaps it's just a ploy to justify a very high price tag per bottle? Speaking of the bottle, it's rather slick looking, with dark amber plastic and a gold accent color giving the product a very appealing appearance. The product has minimal text on the front panel, which is nice from a visual point of view, but doesn't do enough to explain what the point of this is. Overall, it's nice looking, but what's inside the bottle seems like it fails to bring anything new to the table — there are plenty of potent antioxidant shots out there already.Reviewed on: 12/15/2010
