BevNET Review: Featuring the familiar flavor of fruit punch, Modjo 4Life’s Island Punch starts off with a very nice, mainstream taste. It’s non-carbonated and sugar sweetened, which makes it very palatable and easy to drink. It’s definitely thirst quenching, which is not something that can be said about every functional beverage out there on the market today. There’s a light amount of bite to the product, but it’s definitely far less than most other functional drinks out there. On the functionality front, this product is marketing itself as an anti-aging product. The product claims to have five times the amount of resveratrol content as a liter of red wine. While they can’t really quantify what that means for the consumer, it’s something that should certainly be a marketable benefit. Otherwise, they’ve loaded the product with vitamins, herbal content, and electrolytes, which, if nothing else, makes this a product that will quench your thirst pretty quickly. Packaging is a 10.5 oz. fully wrapped plastic bottle. While we’re not big fans of the silver color that covers most of the bottle (it’s kind of dreary looking), the bright red color used around the logo and for much of the front panel text creates some nice contrast. Overall, this is the most palate pleasing flavor of the Modjo 4Life lineup – and probably the best looking as well. Reviewed on: 9/29/2010

BevNET Review: Modjo 4Life’s Simply Citrus is a resveratrol enhanced beverage that features five times the resveratrol of a liter of wine. Aside from that, this sugar sweetened beverage has an enjoyable flavor, with a non-carbonated base that drinks like a cousin of an energy drink (although there’s no caffeine), especially when you factor in the slight bite at the finish. The drink’s anti-aging formulation also features a bevy of herbal and vitamin ingredients, including B vitamins, ginseng, ginkgo, kudzu, and white willow bark extract. Packaging, which is a 10.5 oz. fully wrapped bottle, is something that we have mixed feelings about. Yes, it looks different than what’s out there, but there are certain things about the visual execution that could be improved. Specifically, the writing is very difficult to read, with light orange text on top of a somewhat drab gray background. Plus, they’ve buried the flavor name on the bottom of the bottle, making it easy to miss. Choosing a richer color in place of the orange would definitely help. Overall, it’s an enjoyable product that seems nicely positioned for the growing anti-aging beverage category. Reviewed on: 9/29/2010
