BevNET Review: In terms of sports and hydration beverages, lemon lime is certainly the most ubiquitous flavor out there. Modjo Hydrade’s Lemon Lime Ice (the name is a mouthful) is a fairly pleasing take, with a 5% coconut water base that is sugar sweetened and enhanced with sea salt (a bit too much, in our opinion). Aside from the saltiness, the product is very drinkable with some added marketability (at least for now) from the coconut water. The packaging shows promise, but some restraint needs to be used when it comes to placing text on the front panel – there’s just too much of it. While we understand what they are trying to do, some of the items hurt rather than help the sale. Keeping it focused on flavor and hydration, while eliminating some of the gimmicks (like “formula 125”) would make the product more appealing and feel more credible. Overall, it’s a good start and with some refinement we think it could really be a good product.Reviewed on: 7/1/2011

BevNET Review: As far as hydration and sports drinks go, this coconut water and sea salt enhanced product is actually quite pleasing to drink. The use of coconut water gives the product adds both marketability and natural electrolytes, but, for better or worse, it doesn’t add much in the way of flavor. That said, this product tastes very much like a traditional orange flavored sports drink. It has a pronounced saltiness, which appears to be by design since they’ve added “genuine sea salt.” Nutritionally, the product has 5% juice (coconut water), 125 calories per bottle, and electrolytes (sodium and potassium). While it’s definitely a thirst quenching and hydrating product, it’s hard to say just how well this product stacks up against the competition. On the outside, the 20 ounce PET bottle is fully wrapped, which, compared to other sports drinks, doesn’t let you see the liquid inside the bottle. As far as the label design goes, it has a technical vibe to it that is very cluttered with text. There’s a lot of stuff that could be removed as it adds no value, including “formula 125”, “fortified with genuine sea salt,” and the two coconut water references (one would be sufficient). Also, the branding, which has both “Modjo” and “Hydrade”, seems a bit too complicated (they should pick one or the other). Overall, we like what’s inside the bottle, but the cluttered nature of the label leaves something to be desired.Reviewed on: 7/1/2011
