Product Type:Functional: Energy Drink: Regular; Container: 6.75 oz can
BevNET Review: Whether you consider this primarily an energy drink or a coffee drink, Monster X-Presso Hammer is a very enjoyable product. From a coffee point of view, there’s a full bodied base of coffee that’s bold in flavor but smooth in finish. They’ve added dairy to the mix in the form of skim milk and cream, which makes the product have a rather creamy feeling in the mouth, and sweetened the product with both sugar and sucralose. All in all, it’s a very easy flavor to drink – and it’s definitely better than Starbucks’ offerings. On the energy front, the product has the “Monster energy blend,” which includes caffeine, taurine, ginseng, and a host of other ingredients that are typically found in other Monster products. There’s definitely some noticeable kick to it. There’s also a unique technical point to this product, which is the addition of “nitrous oxide” to help create the light foam that appears on the top of the liquid when poured out (designed to mimic foamed milk). Sure, there’s definitely a slight novelty factor to it, but we think that it also helps give the drinker a sense of the “energy” that’s inside the formula. On the outside, the product comes in a 6.75 fluid ounce (200ml) serving in a can that’s slightly taller than your typical 8 ounce (250ml) can. The design is trademark Monster Energy, with prime placement of the logo on the front of the can. As this was the only flavor of Monster X-Presso that we tasted, we weren’t quite sure what the “Hammer” tag is all about. Otherwise, we appreciate the clean and simple look of the product. It's both pleasing to the eye and easy to understand -- two important things when it comes to packaging. Overall, a very strong addition to the Monster family.
