Black Tea with Lemongrass
For their first effort, Montauk Beverage Works has done quite a good job, creating a product that’s both pleasing to the palate and eye. They’ve done a great job with the flavor of the drink, which has only five ingredients, including water, raw agave nectar, brewed black tea, natural flavors, and citric acid. The resulting product is clean and refreshing, full bodied and with a mild amount of sweetness. We definitely appreciate the use of agave, for both its raw format as well as the earthy note that it adds to the drink’s finish. The only part of the flavor that seems to be missing is the lemongrass. While the product certainly has a citrus note to the mix, it’s not something that tastes like lemongrass. So, they should either tweak the flavor or change the name. Either one would be fine by us. On the outside, the product uses a stock 16 oz. glass bottle with a black cap. The design of the package has a simple, raw style design, which fits nicely with what’s inside the bottle. The front panel is clutter free and easy to read, although we think it would make sense to move the flavor name to a single line towards the center. Overall, this is a great first flavor from Montauk Beverage Works that we hope translates into additional flavors in the near future.
