BevNET Review: Mr. Pink Vitamin Ginseng Drink is an energy drink (it’s labeled as a supplement) that features caffeine, 1000mg ginseng, and B vitamins as its functional ingredients. In terms of flavor, it’s pleasant, but definitely tastes like a functional drink, with a heavy note of vitamins, a note of citrus, and a final note of herbal flavor. From our perspective, the flavor and formulation seem like something that would be interchangeable with other products on the market -- there’s nothing really extraordinary about Mr. Pink (unless you are in the minority of people seeking a big dose of ginseng from your energy drink). We feel the same way about the brand. On the surface, Mr. Pink is a playful-sounding energy drink that has taken a slightly different visual approach than what we typically see in the energy category. However, there’s no explanation as to what it means and there are no other visual elements to tie it all together (e.g. pink liquid or a graphic of some sort). As a result the product feels like something that belongs in an ethnic market more than in the mainstream. Overall, there are some good things here, but they need to follow through with the concept more. Reviewed on: 7/24/2012

BevNET Review: Editor’s Note: Mr. Pink’s Sugar Free formulation swaps out sugar for artificial sweeteners (acesulfame potassium and sucralose). It also loses the pink accent color, which further separates the branding from the rest of the product. That said, while the flavor is good, we think that this product needs even more visual work than its counterpart. Reviewed on: 7/24/2012
