Evolve is Muscle Milk’s “naturally flavored protein shake” that is geared towards female consumers. It’s sweetened with stevia, monk fruit and cane sugar and comes packaged in an 8.25 oz. Tetra Pak carton with an attached straw. The branding on the product is definitely softer-looking than your typical Muscle Milk product, but it’s definitely just as busy-looking; the package has multiple callouts on the front panel. However, there’s something about the look of the product that makes us feel as though they haven’t fully committed to one direction or the other. In terms of what’s inside the container, the vanilla flavor is definitely very drinkable, with a medium amount of sweetness (there’s a slight aftertaste of the sweeteners, but it’s tolerable) on top of a rich and creamy body. From a functional perspective, this product has a lot going on, with 12g of protein, 20 vitamins and minerals, 5g of fiber, and Tonalin, an ingredient that is marketed as helping reduce body fat. All in all, what they’ve put inside the carton is a credible and enjoyable formulation. Factoring in the packaging, and we think they’ve got a nice start that, with some tweaks, could certainly be a formidable offering to help Muscle Milk reach female consumers.
