peach guava smoothie

Product Type:Juice: Coconut Water and Juice; Container: 15.2 PET
BevNET Review: Peach Guava Smoothie is one of Naked Juice’s two coconut water based smoothies that features “35% fewer calories than other Naked smoothies.” The product has a sweet and fruity flavor that tastes very much like a Naked product, with apple and orange juices providing the base flavor. Mango, guava and peach (with the help of natural flavors) round it out and give it a tropical note. As for the coconut water, which is the first ingredient listed, you can’t taste the delicate flavor with the exception of a faint note on the finish. Still, it helps cut the calories, provides electrolytes, and keeps the overall mouth feel of the product light. Aside from having a coconut on the bottom of the label, this product looks and feels very much like your standard Naked product. On that note, it’s a pretty cluttered looking label, with way too much text than is necessary. Moving the Naked logo to the top and figuring out a way to more succinctly explain the product would improve it greatly. Overall, a good entry from Naked, but we can’t help but feel as though this effort to hop on the coconut water bandwagon isn’t going to work so well. Reviewed on: 4/1/2010

tropical smoothie

Product Type:Juice: Coconut Water and Juice; Container: 15.2 oz PET
BevNET Review: Made with a 100% juice blend of coconut water, apple juice, pineapple juice, mango puree, orange juice, acerola cherry puree, passion fruit juice and natural flavors. If you’re reading this, you’re likely eager to know how coconut water impacts the product. Probably the most noticeable impact is that the product is less thick than your standard Naked Juice smoothie and that it has fewer calories. From a flavor perspective, the tropical and citrus fruit flavors are strong, with the orange, mango, and passion fruit being the most easily distinguished from the mix. There’s not really any coconut water flavor to the mix, perhaps with the only exception being the slight vegetal note that’s at the finish. However, the nutritional panel does reveal that this product likely has some electrolyte benefits from this addition. Packaging is standard fare Naked Juice, with a 15.2 oz. square shaped bottle. The label is cluttered, but not as cluttered as some of Naked’s other efforts. The prominence of the coconut graphic suggests that the product has a more distinct coconut flavor than it really does. In addition, calling out that the product has “35% fewer calories than other Naked smoothies” seems a bit dangerous on a product that still has 200 calories per bottle. Overall, it’s definitely one of the better Naked products that we’ve tried in a long time, but you’ll be disappointed if you are expecting to taste the coconut water. Reviewed on: 4/1/2010
