Naturewise Whole Body Vitality Drinks

Covers Products: Berry Guayusa, Citrus Matcha, Tropical White Tea

Naturewise is a line of sparkling, zero-calorie “Whole Body Vitality Drinks” that feature a host of functional ingredients.

The featured ingredient that is found in all three flavors is organic ashwagandha, an herbal ingredient that is commonly used in ayurvedic medicine. From there, a host of other functional ingredients are added, including vitamins, electrolytes, amino acids, caffeinated tea blends, and Holy basil. Finally, each flavor is sweetened with monk fruit and stevia and gets its own blend of flavor, juice, and tea.

We tasted all three of these side-by-side. In all three flavors, it’s obvious that the company is using zero-calorie sweeteners and functional ingredients as there is both a bite and an aftertaste. The fruit flavors and tea mask it somewhat, although there isn’t any noticeable difference between the three teas that they’ve chosen. For the fruit flavors, you can tell the difference, but they are all somewhat similar and in the same general ballpark.

As far as zero-calorie functional beverages are concerned, all three of Naturewise's flavors are nice tasting, but they're fairly similar to that of to other similarly positioned products. And we’ve said this in many other reviews -- it seems unnecessary to have to select a functional tea AND flavor pairing. We feel as though the company should just get behind one, which would allow a more consistent message across the line.

For the packaging, Naturewise has chosen a 12 oz. slim can. This, along with the design, gives it a vibe of being a functional and natural product. However, it’s definitely one of those products that requires the consumer to pick it up and examine it to figure out exactly what it is. Furthermore, the playfulness of the hand gestures feels at odds with the rather sterile and technical vibe of the Naturewise logo. In the end, it’s just not overly clear what the product is and we don’t feel as though its current appearance will inspire consumers to pick it up and buy it.

Overall, there are definitely some good attributes to this product, but the product feels like it needs to do a better job of presenting itself and communicating its benefits. While there’s nothing inherently bad about it, it feels like Naturewise will need to improve the way that it connects with the buyer. Otherwise, we think they’ll just glance over this product and select another.
