Blackcherry Lemonade

Product Type:Juice: Juice Drink; Container: 16.9 oz Glass
BevNET Review: New Leaf included two fruit-flavored lemonades as part of its Lemonade line, and Blackcherry is our favorite. It’s their take on the classic “cherry lemonade” flavor, which they’ve done a great job executing. Using 10 percent juice certainly helps, providing a naturally fruity backdrop to the added cherry flavoring. So does the use of organic cane sugar, which gives the product its medium level of sweetness and a clean finish. On the outside, the 16.9 oz. proprietary bottle is the best we’ve seen from New Leaf to date. The label design is aesthetically pleasing, with colorful graphics and a well-arranged but slightly busy front panel. Adding some cherries alongside the lemon graphic could make it more obvious as to what the flavor is. Nitpicking aside, we think that this is a very marketable and enjoyable mainstream product with solid execution. Reviewed on: 5/14/2010

Tiger Half & Half

Product Type:Juice: Juice Drink; Container: 16.9 oz Glass
BevNET Review: New Leaf’s “The Tiger” is the classic blend of half lemonade and half iced tea, which they’ve sweetened with organic sugar. For a brand whose tagline is “the official beverage of taste,” they’ve certainly delivered, with a balanced mixture that has just the right amount of each flavor. With only five ingredients, it’s not surprise that it tastes very much like something you could make at home. That’s the sign of good quality in our book. Packaging is a proprietary 16.9 oz. bottle with a shrink wrapped label around the bottom portion. This leaves the bottle’s neck exposed, allowing the consumer to see through the bottle. Calling this product "The Tiger” is certainly more fun and creates more curiosity than simply calling it “half and half," although it likely requires closer inspection to figure out exactly what the flavor of the drink is. Otherwise, the design is clean and feels inviting, which should certainly help it do well in the mainstream. Overall, a very enjoyable, well rounded product.Reviewed on: 5/14/2010

Homemade Lemonade

Product Type:Juice: Juice Drink; Container: 16.9 oz Glass
BevNET Review: Made with 10 percent juice and sweetened with organic sugar, New Leaf’s Homemade Lemonade is a well-executed version of the classic summertime beverage. Made with a minimal number of ingredients, they’ve come as close to freshly made lemonade as you possibly can in a bottled product (it’s definitely deserving of the name “Homemade Lemonade”). The product has loads of lemon flavor and the use of sugar keeps the product’s body light and clean. It’s fairly sweet, but not too sweet, with the sugar and lemon flavors giving the product a nice yin and yang effect. On the outside, the proprietary 16.9 oz. bottle is attractive and appetizing, with a bright yellow label that’s easily identifiable as a lemonade. Overall, an extremely well executed product that delivers impressive flavor in an attractive package.Reviewed on: 5/14/2010

Strawberry Lemonade

Product Type:Juice: Juice Drink; Container: 16.9 oz Glass
BevNET Review: This flavor of New Leaf Lemonade starts with the same 10 percent juice base as the Lemonade and Blackcherry Lemonade, but this time they’ve added strawberry flavoring to the mix. We were actually quite impressed with the strawberry flavor, which actually tastes like real fruit compared with the candy like flavors used in so many other products. Plus, the lemonade flavor is spot on, with a very homemade flavor that’s the result of using 10 percent juice and organic cane sugar for the sweetener. Like the other flavors, the 16.9 oz. proprietary bottle gives the product an aesthetically appealing presence. They’ve arranged the front panel in such a way that it contains a fair amount of information but is easy on the eyes. Plus, they’ve done a nice job of making a product that has both a high quality and value vibe to it it’s packaging. All in all, a great addition to the lineup.Reviewed on: 5/14/2010
