BevNET Review: Malava Novocaine is an anti-stress drink that's named after the anesthetic of the same name that's most commonly used in dentistry. That's a tie to the drink's founder, a dentist by trade, and also to the drink's intended anti-stress function. While it might be a stretch to consider dental procedures and anti-stress in the same breath, the product's kava extract based formula is certainly something that doesn't make us stressed. It has a lightly sweetened fruit punch like flavor with a noticeable cooling sensation to the finish, which certainly fits the bill in terms of what novocaine makes us think of. There's also a moderate herbal note that hits you at the end, which is likely from the kava. We can't tell you how effective the kava formula is, the cool herbal part certainly is a relaxing flavor. Packaging is a text centric design, with vertical text running up the front panel and light hearted text on the back. Our only comments on the packaging is that there's too much emphasis on the word Malava, which might be confused as an ingredient or flavor, and that it's somewhat difficult to read the vertical text. Overall though, we really like this product's unique approach to the relaxation drink category. Definitely worth a try. Reviewed on: 2/2/2009
