Blueberry Lemonade

BevNET Review: Blueberry Lemonade is a naturally and artificially flavored drink that's sweetened with high fructose corn syrup. The blue color, courtesy of Blue #1, is not overly appealing or natural looking. The flavor inside the bottle is a mellow lemonade flavor, followed by a dose of candy like blueberry flavor. The biggest issues for this drink are its level of sweetness, which is currently way too high, and the drink's quality, which, with no added juice, HFCS, and artificial flavors, seems below average. We're honestly not sure what niche this drink is attempting to serve. Reviewed on: 8/25/2008

Strawberry Lemonade

BevNET Review: Like the other flavors of Nu South, there's a lot of sweet flavor and high fructose corn syrup running wild inside the bottle. It's not an overly pleasant product to drink, unless you're in the market for something that tastes like melted popsicles. Furthermore, for a company that was formed to deliver the "highest quality of refreshing beverages to consumers" and claims to have "re-contemporized the lemonade category", this seems like a very pedestrian product that needs to improve its quality. Peach Lemonade

BevNET Review: There's not really that much lemon flavor to this drink, but there is a lot of candy-like peach flavor to the mix (pretty odd for a drink from the Peach State). Plus, there's a lot of high fructose corn syrup, which leaves a not so pleasant coating in your mouth. Honestly, it's hard to find much in the way of positives for this drink -- your local store brand is probably at least as good and might even be cheaper.Reviewed on: 8/25/2008

Cranberry Lemonade

BevNET Review: Maybe it's just because we're based in New England, but this was our favorite flavor of the bunch. It's still not something that we'd go out and purchase, but the tartness of the cranberry flavoring does manage to hide some of the deficiencies that we cited in other Nu South reviews. If nothing else, this flavor seems less sweet, which is a good thing. Still, the drink leaves a lot to be desired, starting with store brand like appearance and use of HFCS. Overall, the best of the bunch, but still needs a lot of improvement across the board.Reviewed on: 8/25/2008

BevNET Review: This variety of Nu South is, as the name suggests, the classic mix of lemonade and iced tea. As far as mainstream, value priced products go, this stuff isn't half bad -- probably on par with the old version of Nestea perhaps. Then again, it's not overly great either, with an HFCS laden formulation that leaves a sticky coating in your mouth. If they switched to sugar, things might be different, but there are definitely better products out there. Reviewed on: 8/25/2008

Lemonade

BevNET Review: This new bottled lemonade brand from Atlanta has a nice mix of lemon and sweetness, but the sweetener, high-fructose corn syrup, left our tongues tingling in an unnatural way. The label is simple and unoffensive, featuring a denim-y blue color and an ink-stamp Nu South logo. We think it could find a market – the first time. But it’s not likely to again due to a major design flaw: the plastic bottle is so cheap and flimsy that it nearly bent in half when we lifted it up to drink. The bottle walls bend at the slightest pressure, meaning you’re as likely to have to clean up the drink as consume it. That’s a major problem both visually and functionally speaking. Grape

BevNET Review: Frankly, after the trouble we’d had opening and spilling Nu South’s lemonade products, the prospect of an exploding grape soda terrified us, but we managed to survive the skimpy PET construction to get to the product without spilling a drop. Unfortunately, the soda itself is much less enjoyable than the lemonades, which at least had some accurate flavor qualities. This just tastes like overly-sweet soda without much grape flavor, and a bitter aftertaste. Not great.Reviewed on: 7/12/2006

Mango Lemonade

BevNET Review: The biggest obstacle to this product’s success is the fact that the bottle walls are so flimsy that they cannot resist even the minimal grip pressure required to hold the package steady while twisting off the cap, meaning that the liquid is forced up and out of the bottle, which is no mean trick for a product that doesn’t have any carbonation. In other words, to open it is to spill it. Nice mango flavor, weird orange color, odd label that mixes mangoes with what appear to be flying shards of yellow class, but again, use more plastic.Reviewed on: 7/12/2006
