Fruit Punch

Product Type:Juice: Coconut Water and Juice; Container: 6.75 oz Pak
BevNET Review: O.N.E.'s Kids Fruit Punch flavor is another solidly formulated coconut water-based product. Like the other flavors, the product starts with coconut water concentrate, which naturally contains sugar and electrolytes, while also adding a slight note of flavor. In terms of fruit punch flavors, they've done a nice job of making a fruit punch that actually takes like juice. This is due, at least in part, to the addition of apple, pear, lime, and cherry juices (they've added natural flavoring as well). From a positioning point of view, we like O.N.E.'s approach to the kids category, utilizing the popular ingredient of coconut water to help keep kids hydrated (what parent doesn't want that?) while still delivering a taste that will be familiar to potentially finicky palates. From a design standpoint, the 6.75 oz. Tetra Pak container feels a bit messy, with a lot of elements on the front panel of the box resulting in the eye having to jump around to get the full picture. Plus, we think that they could make the product visually pop more than it does, which is something that will help it compete with the many colorful products that litter the juice box shelves. Overall, an innovative concept from O.N.E. that, with a little more polish, definitely has some serious potential.Reviewed on: 11/1/2010

Apple

Product Type:Juice: Coconut Water and Juice; Container: 6.75 oz Pak
BevNET Review: Apple is one of those flavors that every line of juice boxes has to have. In the case of O.N.E. Kids, they've managed to create something that's original, both in flavor and value proposition. From the taste perspective, the use of coconut water, apple juice, pear juice, lime juice, and natural flavor gives the product a flavor that's full bodied without being overly sweet. The splash of lime flavor is a very nice touch, offering some citrus contrast that helps round out and balance a flavor that might otherwise be tart. Plus, the coconut water doesn't get in the way, which is something that parents will likely wonder about prior to purchasing this product for the first time. But of course, it works in the background, providing electrolytes to aid hydration. That's something that's not generally found in juice box products — a nice added benefit that will make this product stand out with parents. On the outside, the design is something that is clearly meant for kids, so we don't think any parents will confuse it. On the other hand, it's not a design that's likely to have kids asking for it by name. While we don't think that this is a deal breaker, it's something that O.N.E. might want to consider in future versions of the product. Overall, it's hard to have a kids juice box line without a solid apple flavor — and O.N.E. has definitely made a valiant effort with this enjoyable product. Reviewed on: 11/1/2010

Raspberry Lemonade

Product Type:Juice: Coconut Water and Juice; Container: 6.75 oz Pak
BevNET Review: Of the initial four flavors of O.N.E. Kids, Raspberry Lemonade is probably the one that tastes most like a traditional juice box. Specifically, the unmistakable flavor of lemonade hits your tongue in a big way, with the other juices that are in the mix (typically we'd call them "filler juice") almost indistinguishable. So in this particular product, it's hard to even detect the presence of the coconut water, apple juice, and pear juices that have been added — a good thing from our point of view. Therefore, getting a child to make the transition to this product is likely rather easy — at least from a taste perspective. For parents, electrolytes (aka hydration) are a welcome addition to kids' drinks, especially when derived from a source where they occur naturally as they do in coconut water. On the other hand, we think that they have a little bit of work to do on the package. Specifically, O.N.E. seems to be missing something that would have appeal to the kids who consume them -- in many cases, they are likely used to consuming juice boxes that contain more colorful-looking graphics or even licensed characters. Whether we're right or not about that, we can almost guarantee that they won't care about the fact that it has coconut water — so reducing the size of the coconut image relative to the lemon and raspberry might be something to think about. Still, our packaging concerns are relatively minor -- we really like what O.N.E. has done with this product and we think that kids will too once they try it.Reviewed on: 11/1/2010

Orange

Product Type:Juice: Coconut Water and Juice; Container: 6.75 oz Pak
BevNET Review: Utilizing a base of coconut water from concentrate, the O.N.E. Kids' Orange Coconut Water is a nice-tasting product that should be enjoyable to kids and adults alike. It's sweet, but not too sweet, with the flavor of orange juice taking center stage. To that end, you don't have to be a coconut water fan (as most kids probably aren't) to enjoy this product. Also in the mix is a note of apple juice (there's also pear, but you can't easily taste it) and a final note of coconut water at the finish. All in all, this is a very well formulated product — and one of the best flavor pairings of the line. Nutritionally, the product has electrolytes that you won't find in standard kids drinks, plus the requisite vitamin C. Packaging is a 6.75 oz. Tetra Pak juice box, complete with an attached straw. It's probably not the most kid-friendly design out there (they've probably emphasized the coconut a bit too much), but it will certainly do in terms of luring in parents. Adding some extra elements to make it fun for the kids who consume it would probably help. Overall, a very solid effort from O.N.E.Reviewed on: 11/1/2010
