Lemon Sweet Black Tea

Product Type:Tea: Sweetened; Container: 16.9 oz Glass
BevNET Review: Paradise Key Teas’ interpretation of the classic combination of lemon, sugar, and black tea is a pretty tasty one, although it certainly doesn’t bring anything new to the party. It’s the type of product that would be impossible to identify as belonging to this or any other brand in particular, but, if you like sweet tea, it’s nonetheless an enjoyable product to consume. It’s sweet, has a fair amount of tea flavor, and uses lemon flavoring and citric acid to create the citrus note at the finish. Packaging is a 16.9 oz. glass bottle that has colorful tropical themed design to it, which fits pretty well with the Margaritaville brand that it’s a part of. However, using the actual Margaritaville logo on the label (instead of embossed on the glass as it is now) would be a positive step, especially for those who don’t look close enough to make the connection. Overall, this is a nice tasting mainstream tea, but some refinement of the flavor and improvement of the label would be nice.Reviewed on: 3/29/2010

Diet Peach Red Tea

Product Type:Tea: Sweetened; Container: 16.9 oz Glass
BevNET Review: Paradise Key Teas’ approach to diet is simply to cut the sugar, which, compared with products that use aspartame or other sweeteners, makes for a much more pleasant tasting product. Diet Peach Red Tea uses only 5g of sugar per serving, resulting in just a touch of sweetness and only 20 calories per serving (about 40 per bottle). However, their choice of pairing it with a peach flavored red tea doesn’t seem like the best approach because of both the niche market appeal of red tea and because of its flavor. Packaging is a 16.9 oz. proprietary bottle which features a raised Margaritaville logo. The label design fits the Margaritaville theme that Jimmy Buffett has made famous, but it seems like promoting this connection a bit more than they have (it’s in easy to miss text and embossing on the glass) would benefit this product greatly. Also, with the use of sugar we’re not sure that labeling this “Diet” is the best course of action. Overall, a good effort from Paradise Key Teas. Reviewed on: 3/29/2010

Citrus Green Tea

Product Type:Tea: Sweetened; Container: 16.9 oz Glass
BevNET Review: Paradise Key Teas’ Citrus Green Tea is a sugar sweetened blend of green tea, natural flavors, and citric acid. Compared with the varieties that use black tea, this one is, despite only having 1g less sugar, too sweet to the point that it overpowers the flavor of the green tea. Reducing the sweetener would certainly be the remedy here. On the outside, they’ve employed a custom 16.9 oz. bottle that features a raised Margaritaville logo. It’s not a bad bottle in and of itself, but we can’t help but feel as though the overall look is too similar to Coke’s Gold Peak. Further on that is the muted Margaritaville branding, which, in our opinion, should be more heavily emphasized than it currently is. This brand certainly has some brand equity – and that’s something that Paradise Keys Teas would certainly benefit from. Overall, this product would definitely benefit from improvements in both flavor and branding.Reviewed on: 3/29/2010
