BevNET Review: Pepsi Edge is the new low-carb/low-calorie cola entry from Pepsi. The flavor is quite true to Pepsi original. Compared with Coke C2, Pepsi Edge has a more natural sweetness which is the direct result of using sucralose as its only artificial sweetener. However, this product has 2 grams more sugar and about 3 more calories than Coke C2 (per 12oz serving) which may leave it at a slight disadvantage to those who are doing strict label reading. In our opinion, Pepsi Edge still comes out on top. In many ways, this product makes regular Pepsi obsolete as there is really no disadvantage to this product versus the original. Pepsi Edge is definitely worth a try if you are a regular Pepsi drinker.

Unoriginal.

Coca-Cola has Coke C2. Pepsi shoots back yet again with their version, Pepsi Edge (It's a good thing Edge is no longer produced). Stop copying Coke's ideas, already.

This stuff is horrible. If you want a soda with half of the calories try Coke C2.It tastes like the real thing.Pepsi Edge just tastes nasty.I would rather drink diet Pepsi than Pepsi Edge

Horrible attempt to match a superior effort by Coca-Cola

Pepsi Edge tastes just like diet Pepsi (bad). It tastes like this was a half-hearted effort to match the Coca-Cola release of C2. If you tried both then you know which company tried harder.

I like this drink mainly because its a Pepsi product (thats brand loyalty for you). What does it compete with mosly? Coke C2 I assume. Because Pepsi One comeptes with Coke Zero (completely unclever name)... So never mind that last part.

good stuff

I gave up drinking Pepsi back when I couldn't get it in glass any more, but the Edge product is sufficiently different from normal Pepsi not to be a disappointment to me, and still good enough for me to enjoy it. Good enough for a couple of 12 packs a month for me.

Nicheless product

Anyone who can stand the taste and/or is willing to put artificial sweetener in their body is already drinking diet pepsi, and would not buy a product with sugar like Edge. Anyone wanting (natural) sugar is already drinking regular pepsi. Being middle agish, i would like a product with LESS sugar with no artificial sweetener, but Edge isn't that. The niche to fill is a natural drink with LESS sugar, and its still empty. Yes, a product with less sugar and no artificial sweetener will be less sweet, and kids wont buy it. Us middle aged people who grew up on pepsi, and now find we have to cut the calories, WANT a drink that is less sweet, but still a little sweet. We are the niche market. ---------------- ps about the time edge came out pepsi changed packaging of their 12 packs, appartently in response to cokes improved 2 by 6 form factor. Unfortunately, instead of copying the better package, pepsi changed their 3 by 4 pack to have a bigger tear off. So now, not only does it still not fit in the fridge as well as coke/dr pepper, it USUALLY SELF DESTRUCTS when you open it, because the tiny amount of glue on what is left after you tear off most of the side is not enough to hold. BOOM! 12 cans of pespsi bouncing on the floor. I know the marketing whizzes are always thinking differentiation is going to somehow sell more stuff. Different and WORSE will not sell more stuff. I'm a lifetime pepsi drinker, and drank a Dr. Pepper for variety now and then, now drink mostly Dr. Pepper, with an occasional pepsi for variety. Why, the "improved" packaging is terrible. I don't like picking pepsi's off the floor, and the Dr. P packaging fits so well and is so easy to use.
