BevNET Review: Phat Phruit's Grape Strawberry flavor is a drinkable product, especially when you consider that it has vitamins and calcium as well as a low calorie/carb profile, but we can't help thinking that this product is a bit bland relative to the others. Basically, they've used two flavors that are often difficult to pull off and combined them into one drink. The problem is furthered by the use of pear juice, which we can taste through the grape and strawberry flavors. Maybe consumers will disagree and the numbers will prove us wrong, but there are three other flavors of this brand that we'd reach for over this one.Reviewed on: 8/11/2006

BevNET Review: Despite having 3 percent juice and a mid-calorie formulation, Green Apple's flavor was honestly a bit too candy like for our liking. BevNET Review: We know it's supposed to be a functional beverage, but Peach Mango is actually a great tasting mid-calorie juice as well. The peach and mango flavors are quite well done, and you'll know that as soon as the aroma hits your nose. There's a slight "fuzzy" taste to the peach and the mango has just the right amount of sweetness. The result is an extremely drinkable product that has a lot of potential when you factor in the functional side of the formula. The packaging -- which is not for everyone -- is an attempt to create a hip urban product. This is a marked departure from the conservative Elliott's Amazing line that was previously created by the manufacturer. While we can't say if the target demographic will buy into a brand called Phat Phruit, we can say that this is a technically sound product that offers a lot more than "me too" inside its bottle.Reviewed on: 8/15/2006

BevNET Review: Again, Phat Phruit has created a flavor that drinks like a full calorie juice product. Fortunately, that's not all there is to it. This mid calorie beverage has been enhanced with an "energy" cocktail of vitamins and calcium, giving it some functionality without impacting the sweet pineapple and orange flavors. We like the appearance of this flavor more than other Phat Phruit flavors, admittedly because the yellow color is the most natural-looking of the brand. Overall, we're not whether this product will be adopted as an energy drink, but as a functional, mid-calorie juice, this product offers a lot -- especially in its urban style branding -- that can't be found in other products.Reviewed on: 8/11/2006

BevNET Review: Raspberry Limeade was the first flavor of Phat Phruit that we sampled. As far as functional beverages go, this product has a flavor that is on par with a juice cocktail. The raspberry and lime flavor is sweet with tart and tangy notes throughout. Overall, a drinkable flavor that will most likely appeal to a younger demographic. From a technical point of view, it's impressive that this product has only 40 calories and 10g of carbs per serving -- you really cannot taste the artificial sweeteners that have been used. As for the packaging, the red and green colors are bright and pop out at you, plus the urban style label is good, but the plain white cap cheapens the look a bit. Small tweaks aside, we were quite pleased with this product.Reviewed on: 8/15/2006
