BevNET Review: Pixie Mate's move into a ready to drink format is a well executed one, especially in the sense that it looks and feels like a polished product rather than that of a startup. Makes sense, given that Pixie has been selling their product in tea bag and concentrate format for a while now. In any event, their bottled product starts with a classic styled maté product that uses a simple blend of organic yerba maté and organic evaporated cane juice. They've kept the blend relatively mellow, with just the right amount of complex maté flavor complemented by just the right amount of sweetness. Having only 60 calories per bottle is probably a smart move as well, especially since it's main competitors -- Guayaki and Honest Tea -- are in this same ballpark as well. However, we're not sure that they've done enough with the packaging to differentiate against what's already out there. Still, the quality is very good and it does have a clean look, so it's definitely worth a try.Reviewed on: 3/12/2008

BevNET Review: Green tea and yerba mate are two pretty earthy tasting flavors, but Pixie Mate has done a good job of keeping the earthiness at bay. The brew that they've used (USDA organic) isn't too strong, which should certainly help the product have broad appeal. They've added a touch of organic evaporated cane juice, as well as lemon grass and orange peel, which give it a mild sweetness and help soften the drink's finish. The green label fits well with the theme of the drink, while the Pixie Maté brand emits a hippy, but polished, vibe. Overall, nice tasting and looking.Reviewed on: 3/12/2008

BevNET Review: The Lemon Ginger Black Tea Maté variety of Pixie Maté drinks has a pleasant herbal style flavor that's very mildly sweetened. It's got some good tea flavor to it, mixing both black tea and mate to create a blend that's more delicate tasting than their other varieties. Finally, there's a splash of lemon flavor, which gives the product a fruity finish. We didn't detect the ginger flavor, which could be due to the earthy flavor of the mate -- or perhaps because there simply isn't enough. Either way, we really like the way that this product currently drinks, so it's not an issue that needs to be dealt with. Packaging has a clean, polished look to it, but it feels a bit too similar to other products that are currently on the market. Reviewed on: 3/12/2008
