Smashing Currant

Product Type:Carbonated Soft Drink: Regular; Container: 12 oz glass bottle
BevNET Review: Smashing Currant is the latest flavor from super premium soda maker Pop Soda. Like the other flavors, this variety has an impressive natural flavor, with each of the drink's ingredients discernable from the mix. The first flavor to hit your tongue are the black currant, elderberry, and rosehips, which is then followed by a splash of lemon before finally being rounded out with a dash of sugar and honey. All in all, it's an extremely enjoyable fruit flavored soda. Packaging is a 12 oz glass bottle which has an attractive hippie style label (that's what Vermont is all about). Really, the only thing that comes to mind is going organic as many other competing micro sodas are. Overall, exceptional taste and a super premium look make this a drink that's definitely worth a try.Reviewed on: 7/3/2008

Mint Lime

Product Type:Carbonated Soft Drink: Regular; Container: 12 fl oz glass
BevNET Review: Mint Lime is our favorite member of the Pop Soda line-up. This is a beverage that doesn't attempt to doing anything complicated. It contains fresh lime juice, honey and a dash of fresh mint. The result is a very refreshing, high quality micro-brewed soda. If we had to guess, we would say this would make for an absolutely fantastic drink mixer. As the bottle says, this is an "All natural handcrafted Vermont microsoda" and it truly lives up to its description and exceeded our expectations.Reviewed on: 3/7/2005

Lemon Lavender

Product Type:Carbonated Soft Drink: Regular; Container: 12 fl oz glass
BevNET Review: Lemon Lavender is the first herb-infused soda that we've tried. The micro-brewed soda use fresh lemon juice, vermont honey, fresh ginger and lavender. The result is a strongly aromatic and fresh-tasting soda which has a brisk level of carbonation. We're not sure how well-received the lavender flavor will be among the general public, but the quality of this soda is top notch. Overall, a very refreshing soda that will surely delight gourmet soda consumers.Reviewed on: 3/7/2005

Citrus Hibiscus

Product Type:Carbonated Soft Drink: Regular; Container: 12 fl oz glass
BevNET Review: Citrus Hibiscus is a fantastic combination of fresh squeezed citrus juices (presumably ruby red grapefruit or blood orange given the color), honey and hibiscus flower. The honey flavor comes through strongly and really adds depth to the flavor. The hibiscus flavor is excellent as well, giving the product a nice floral finish. The label art is beautifully done. This is a great hand-crafted soda from the Green Mountain State. Perhaps our only criticism is that the Pop Soda brand name isn't easily distinguished from the rest of the label and consumers might not remember the name of this product as a result.Reviewed on: 3/7/2005

+ Show Product ReviewCoffee Fiend

Product Type:Carbonated Soft Drink: Regular; Container: 12 fl oz glass
BevNET Review: Coffee Fiend starts off with a lot of promise. It has a very clean and attractive label design that has a high quality vibe. The short list of ingredients is prominently placed, which means they aren't hiding behind any funny stuff. It all sounded so good. Then we tried it. Coffee Fiend is one of those unfortunate products that is technically well-executed, but unpalatable. It’s done it’s job too well, and misses the mark in terms of its marketability. The brew of coffee is intense, with notes of anise and a very subtle hint of sweetness. However, that subtle hint of sweetness is also the product's downfall – the product is brackish. We think that most people who try this product will find think that this product is totally unsweetened, unless consuming this with a totally clean palate. Regardless of the state of one's palate, Coffee Fiend needs more sugar. That's honestly our only criticism of this otherwise top-notch super premium CSD – but it’s a big one.Reviewed on: 10/11/2006
