BevNET Review: PRESK8 is a shot that is intended to be consumed 30 minutes prior to hockey. While that’s definitely a very narrowly focused target, the product seems like something that could have a broader market if branded differently. From a flavor perspective, this shot is quite palatable compared to your typical energy shot, with a sweet and tart fruit punch flavor that has minimal aftertaste. At 60 calories, the product uses a blend of fructose and sucralose to sweeten the product, while functional ingredients include B vitamins, amino acids, caffeine, and rhodiola rosea extract (an herb that supposedly helps your mood, among other things). As with most energy products, the B vitamins and caffeine are the ingredients that the drinker is most likely to feel the effects of. Packaging is a 4 oz. shot, which is larger than most other products out there. The label design is all about hockey, which seems like an innocuous theme to have on a product like this. “PRESK8” is a decent name, but the visual treatment of it (which is running vertically) is difficult to read. Plus, the color scheme is dark and murky rather than something that feels like a performance product. Overall, it’s a good start, but improving the visual image of the product would help a lot.Reviewed on: 11/28/2011
