While this product doesn’t have as much protein as some of the other protein enhanced beverages out there (it has 10g per bottle – others have 20+), it certainly sets the bar in terms of flavor. Specifically, this product is extremely smooth and it lacks the protein bitterness found in so many protein drinks. The grapefruit flavor is a good pairing, helping to hide the protein flavor and the artificial sweetener used in the drink (sucralose). We think that they’ve done a great job of coming up with something that the mainstream consumer will find enjoyable to drink while still delivering a modest hit of protein. And the mainstream is exactly who this drink seems to be targeted at, based on the level of protein that they’ve put in the product as well their relationship with Pepsi. On the outside, the product is clean and easy to read, with prime placement of the Muscle Milk logo something that will definitely help it catch eyes on the shelf. It’s not the most visually impressive product that we’ve ever seen, but we think that it’s a respectable effort nonetheless. Overall, this is a well-executed product that’s one of the better enhanced water entries that we’ve seen in a while.
