Product Type:Functional: Energy Drink: Regular; Container: 8.4 oz Can
BevNET Review: Of the two flavors of Pur3X that we sampled, this was the one that we preferred – although it still needs some work. On the flavor front, it’s sweeter tasting, but has less sugar content, thanks to the use of a cane sugar and sucralose blend. The acai flavor is decent, but definitely not too innovative, while the addition of 95mg of caffeine almost guarantees some energy kick. Functionally, the product has taurine, glucuronolactone, choline, ginseng, guarana, inositol, vitamins (A, E, B), and antioxidants (from acai extract and pomegranate extract) making the up its functional cocktail. On the exterior, they’ve given the 8.4 oz. can a look that definitely says functional, although we’re not convinced that it warrants the “designer beverage club” tagline. However, we’re glad to see that this flavor, unlike Revolution, is more clearly described, with the “acai berry energy drink” text across the top. Still, the product seems to be missing that special something that’s going to make it standout. Right now, it feels very technical and “run of the mill” looking. Overall, it’s good, but we’re not sure that it’s good enough to stand out in the current market. Reviewed on: 4/5/2010
