Purity Organic Functional Drinks

BevNET Review: Purity's Organic line of "Functional Drinks" has several new flavors and Acerola Cherry was the first one that we sampled. With only 60 calories per serving, the product has a very light flavor -- almost like watered down juice. It drinks reasonably well, with a natural cherry flavor that's rounded out with a hint of white grape. There are also lemon and ginger juices, but we struggled to notice them. As for the functionality, the product has added vitamin C, Echinacea, and B vitamins. Pretty harmless as far as today's functional drinks go, but the product, which looks and feels like a juice product, doesn't exactly give off a vibe of credible functionality as the labeling is skewed towards being a juice product. Lastly, there's not enough to differentiate between the three different flavors in the lineup -- they all more or less look the same.

BevNET Review: Pomegranate and blueberry have always made for a good flavor combination, and Purity's entry is no exception. This 20 percent juice drink, which has 60 calories per serving, definitely had the adult drinker in mind, which might explain its light flavor. We're not sure how we feel about the functionality of the product, which, according to the front of the label, is for "memory." That's a rather vague thing to try and get a consumer to buy into, but then again, this product can certainly hold its own as a straight up juice product. Overall, a great tasting product, but the functionality side of the drink isn't terribly convincing. What was it again?

BevNET Review: This flavor, which was originally branded as part of Purity's "Be Well" line, is a Pomegranate Raspberry blend made with 22 percent juice. This flavor has a very light level of sweetness that's on par with Honest Tea's "Honest Ade" line. Its cranberry-like flavor is very easy on the palate and can easily be consumed very quickly, providing refreshment that won't bog you down with excessive sugars or calories. As for the functional side of this USDA Organic product, it features a relatively standard ingredient set, including guarana, green tea, grape seed extract, and a cocktail of B vitamins. Overall, the adult flavor will definitely satisfy the consumer who is in search of a lighter juice product. However, we're not sure if they've marketed the functional side strong enough. In our opinion, the design of the first rendition had a more credible feeling as far as functionality goes. Still, a good tasting juice product that's definitely worth a try.
