Lemonaid

Product Type:Functional: Recovery and Hangover; Container: 15.5oz Can
BevNET Review: The Lemonaid flavor of RageAid is, as the name implies, a lemon flavored energy drink that is fortified with electrolytes. The flavor of the drink tastes very much like a mixture of an energy drink and lemonade, albeit one that was sweetened with artificial sweeteners (it uses a mix of glucose/fructose, sucralose, and ace-k). As far as reduced calorie energy drinks go, this one is certainly very drinkable. The added lemon juice definitely makes its fruit flavor much more accurate than other drinks that just use flavorings, while the underlying energy blend doesn’t get in the way too much. In addition, we think that making this a non-carbonated product was a good choice as we don’t think this flavor would work well in carbonated form. On the outside, they’ve gone with a 16 oz. can that they’ve painted bright orange. While the design itself definitely catches the eye and is cleanly executed, there seems to be a disconnect between the softer look of the cross image and the aggressive treatment and tone of “Rage Aid.” And what does that mean anyway? Is this drink meant to help calm rage? It’s something that we’re sure was meant in an innocuous way, but it definitely adds a bit of confusion. Overall, it’s a nice effort that is ultimately undermined by its choice of name.Reviewed on: 2/22/2013

Teabagger

Product Type:Functional: Recovery and Hangover; Container: 15.5oz Can
BevNET Review: Rageaid “Teabagger” is a non-carbonated energy drink that comes packaged in a 16 oz. can. The product is iced tea flavored, with an iced tea flavor that’s on par with some of the big brands that come packaged in a can. That said, it’s enjoyable, but it’s certainly not going to blow anyone away with its tea flavor. The formulation is sweetened with ace-k, sugar, and sucralose, which gives it a low calorie profile (25 per can) but still maintains a decent level of sweetness. Functionally, the product has electrolytes and energy drink ingredients, including B vitamins, taurine, and caffeine. The branding of the product is where things come undone, with the name Teabagger being something that is juvenile and repulsive (perhaps it has a different meaning in Canada where the drink comes from). In any event, it’s something that is neither appetizing nor helps lure in consumers (unless they are purchasing purely for shock value). Sadly, this ruins the experience for what was otherwise a product that had pretty nice execution. Reviewed on: 2/22/2013
