Of the two Real Beanz Iced Coffee with Coconut Water varieties, the Dark Roast was our preferred flavor. The reason is pretty simple: there’s more coffee in this flavor and it’s less milky. This leads to something that tastes like a higher quality product and more of a coffee drink than a flavored milk. The coconut water, which, according to the label, makes up 20 percent of the mix, can’t really be tasted, but it does add some electrolytes (and industry buzz) to the equation. The drink is sweetened with a blend of sugar, stevia, and erythritol, which keeps the calories at 70 per bottle and the sugar content at 9g per bottle. Fortunately, the stevia is difficult to distinguish from the mix and the aftertaste is diminished thanks to the strong flavor of the coffee. Visually, they’ve gone with a mint green colored label, which has a retro style and stands out from the other Real Beanz colors. Plus, it helps tie things together with the coconut image, which makes the label look like a more cohesive effort than it does on the Cappuccino variety. Overall, we found this flavor to be quite enjoyable, although it’s hard to say how big this flavor will be relative to their other more mainstream offerings.
