Pomegranate Green Tea

BevNET Review: This offering from the Republic of Tea has a marketable pitch -- pomegranate and green tea -- but the unsweetened flavor that it delivers tastes like a faintly flavored fruit punch drink without much green tea character. Part of that is because the beverage gives off a hard-core pomegranate odor and has a bright red color, and part is because the pomegranate essence would normally be sweet and without that sweetness it just has a vague citric character. That said, the stuff all tastes pretty pure and smooth, and the Republic of Tea bottle remains one of the coolest around. It’s not a product that we’d immediately search out seconds for, though -- unless they add some sweetness to it. Reviewed on: 1/15/2007

Vanilla Coconut White Tea

BevNET Review: Republic of Tea's new coconut tea was our favorite flavor of their white tea lineup. Why? The answer is simple: Coconut. This ingredient, which naturally has a very light flavor, combines very well with the unsweetened white tea. The white-labeled bottle appeals more to the eye than the original, more colorfully-designed varieties. Still, the question that remains for this product is whether its unsweetened flavor will resonate with mainstream consumers who, until recently, thought of sugary products like Snapple and Arizona as the highest-quality tea available. Tea purists (perhaps you can put us in that category) will, however, find answering that question extremely enjoyable. Overall, a great entry from The Republic of Tea.Reviewed on: 5/5/2005

Pineapple Guava White Tea

BevNET Review: With its lovely, shapely bottle, striking, almost artful white label, and quality ingredients, this Republic of Tea offering reflects the delicacy of white tea quite nicely. While the pineapple and guava are more of a scent than a factor in the flavoring, they do manage to round off the white brew’s more brackish edges. The weak color and subtlety of the flavors are by no means indicative of this beverage’s potential for refreshment; innovative packaging adds to its originality. Honeydew Melon White Tea

BevNET Review: This Republic of Tea offering manages to actually establish the taste of honeydew in the mix, as well as the smell. As such, it gives the impression of being a bit sweeter, without having actually been so. It’s a refreshing, less subtle beverage than The Republic’s other white tea labels, which is a nice change – we could see this one easily matching up with food. The only question is whether the more sophisticated white tea consumer will want a juvenile taste like melon. If they do, it’s definitely a great beverage to try.Reviewed on: 5/4/2005

Orange Blossom White Tea

BevNET Review: The label on this attractive Republic of Tea container instructs us to enjoy the beverage made from “rare white tea buds” “sip by sip” rather than “gulp by gulp.” That’s good advice, because aside from a bit of orange scent, it takes some work to actually identify much flavor in this brew, and small sips gave us more trips to the plate. What we got in the end was a tea that we would love to see poured out of a large pitcher on a hot day. It tastes like a weak homemade iced tea, with a slightly bitter taste upfront and a delicate, almost dry finish. All in all, this light beverage in the cool teardrop bottle is definitely worth a try to see what white tea can taste like when it has been left unadulterated by sweeteners.Reviewed on: 5/4/2005

BevNET Review: Ginger Peach Decaf Black Tea is another fine no carb-cal iced tea from The Republic of Tea. As the name implies, this beverage features a brew of organic decaffeinated black tea that has been enhanced with natural ginger and peach flavors. The resulting beverage looks and tastes great. Perhaps our only suggestion would be to use real ginger or to at least make the flavor of the ginger a bit stronger -- this would make for a much more unique tasting beverage. Republic Ceylon Black Tea

However, since the product does not have any added flavor this is a product that only true tea enthusiasts will enjoy. Using savory Mediterranean sage tea and natural blackberry flavor, this tea's flavors strike a good balance in your mouth and the finish of the product is slightly sweet and fruity. This product uses an expertly brewed batch of organic green tea that has been flavored with passionfruit flavors. The result is a tea that has all the benefits of green tea but without the grassy flavor that is often associated with it.
