Pink Grapefruit

Product Type:Tea: Sweetened; Container: 12 oz can
BevNET Review: Revolution’s 3D has a new flavor, Pink Grapefruit, which also introduces a couple of other changes to the brand. First, the flavor of the drink has a more pronounced tea flavor, giving the product the “multi dimensional” feeling that it claims to be going for. The fruit flavor hits your tongue second, but it’s pretty mild compared to what you’ll generally find in products that feature grapefruit juice as an ingredient. That’s fine by us, especially since the final flavor to hit your tongue is agave, which, along with sugar, gives the drink it’s moderate level of sweetness and aids its slightly earthy finish. The drink also has added B vitamins and vitamin C, just in case flavor and antioxidants aren’t enough to convince you. On the outside, this product has a pink can, which fits with the pink grapefruit theme and is also a call out to the fact that a portion of the proceeds (profit?) is donated to breast cancer charities. As far as the design of the can goes, they’ve removed the Revolution logo that’s placed front and center on their other varieties, but we’re not sure if that makes a difference either way. The rest of the front panel is cleanly designed, with fruit images and minimal text elements on the front area. However, it’s still not super clear as to what’s inside the can, with the conceptual “3D Multi Dimensional Beverage” not describing what’s inside the can. White tea, which is currently last on the front panel’s list, should be moved higher, especially since this product is essentially a fruit flavored tea at the end of the day. On a related note, the package says “super fruit,” which is presumably referring to the grapefruit juice. To us, that seems a bit overzealous and potentially confusing. While this might all sound bad, it’s ultimately pretty minor – the visual design of the can and what’s inside it are just fine. We'd just like to see the product call what it actually is -- a flavored tea. Because as a flavored tea, this product is actually quite enjoyable, especially with the added vitamins.Reviewed on: 11/9/2009

Blueberry

Product Type:Juice: Juice Drink; Container: 12 fl oz
BevNET Review: The first flavor sampled of Revolution 3D was the Blueberry flavor. Like the other varieties, the drink blends white tea (even though this drink isn't really marketed as a tea), sugar, agave, blueberry juice, and added flavors and vitamins into a mildly sweet 12 oz cocktail. The product has a very adult oriented flavor, with mellow notes of tea followed by a slightly fruity finish. It's easy to drink and doesn't overwhelm you with sugar. The value proposition of being a 3D "multi dimensional beverage" is plausible, but putting leaving tea imagery off of front panel is a bit of a surprise. Still, the product has an attractive and modern look -- and the flavor is spot on -- so it definitely deserves high marks.Reviewed on: 5/14/2008

Pomegranate

Product Type:Juice: Juice Drink; Container: 12 fl oz
BevNET Review: The flavor of Revolution's 3D Pomegranate was better than we would have expected, with a mellow tea flavor that has a light splash of fruit flavor to round things out. They've sweetened the product with pure cane sugar and agave syrup, which keeps the body clean and the sugary aftertaste to a minimum, plus they've fortified the drink with Vitamin C and B vitamins to help keep it true to its multi-dimensional tagline. Packaging is attractive and whets the appetite, although we would have expected carbonated juice inside the can rather than a tea and juice blend. Overall, very enjoyable flavor and attractive packaging -- our favorite of the lineup.Reviewed on: 5/14/2008

Mango

Product Type:Juice: Juice Drink; Container: 12 fl oz
BevNET Review: The Mango variety of Revolution 3D does what very few mango flavored products successfully do -- deliver natural tasting mango flavor. The product's delicate body of tea and use of real mango juice (2%) allow the product to accomplish this in a seemingly easy fashion, while the use of cane sugar gives the product a light mouth feel and a clean finish. Like the other varieties, the packaging is pleasing to the eye and the tagline is credible and, although the drinks content isn't instantly obvious, it can definitely be a product that consumers come back for again and again. Definitely worth a try.Reviewed on: 5/14/2008

Green Apple

Product Type:Juice: Juice Drink; Container: 12 fl oz
BevNET Review: Green Apple tries to follow in the footprints of the first three flavors that we sampled, but unfortunately it was our least favorite flavor of the line. Don't take that the wrong way -- the drink is definitely appealing and the execution is very good. However, the green apple flavor tastes a bit too much like flavoring, whereas the other varieties actually taste like real fruit. Specifically, the "green" apple has just a slight candy-like note to it, which we think the drink could live without. Otherwise, we love the light body, the tea flavor, and the use of cane sugar and agave. Reviewed on: 5/14/2008
