Chocolate Tea

Product Type:Tea: Sweetened; Container: 14 oz glass
BevNET Review: Chocolate and tea are things that are certainly very enjoyable and popular on their own – but combined? Fortunately for Rob’s Really Good, the flavors do seem to work well together in this drink. The base of the product is a fairly standard tasting mixture of black tea and sugar, which tastes very much like classic sweet tea. The addition of chocolate flavor delivers an enjoyable secondary flavor for the product, especially since there’s only a splash of it. The product is USDA Organic certified and features 60 calories per 8 oz. serving (it’s a 14 oz. bottle), putting it right in the middle of the sweet and not-so-sweet players. Packaging is a tall and slender glass bottle, which utilizes a design that we’d describe as simultaneously wholesome and funky. It definitely has the vibe of a high quality beverage. Overall, it’s hard to say how marketable chocolate flavored tea will actually be, but Rob’s Really Good has given it their best shot and the resulting product is very enjoyable.

Iced Tea with Lemon

Product Type:Tea: Sweetened; Container: 14 oz glass
BevNET Review: Of all the Rob’s Really Good flavors, this is certainly the most mainstream and marketable right out of the gate. After all, any RTD line that has tea flavors has to have the classic mixture of tea and lemon. The execution of the product is quite good, with only four ingredients (water, organic sugar, organic black tea, organic lemon juice) giving the product a home-style flavor. From a sweetness point of view, this product has 16 g of sugar (and 60 calories) per 8 oz. serving, making it closer to the “less sweet” side of the spectrum. With the exception of the word “organic” that’s placed in the middle of the graphic of the sun, the graphics on the label are nicely illustrated. These images definitely help create the perception that this product is both high quality and better for you than some of the competition. Plus, it adds a touch of fun, which is something that’s often missing from products in this category. Overall, a very strong entry from Rob’s Really Good.

Malaysian Hibiscus

Product Type:Juice: Juice Drink; Container: 14 oz glass
BevNET Review: We’re starting to see a resurgence in the use of hibiscus in beverages lately, so it’s no surprise that Rob’s Really Good has chosen to use this flavor. Their version is spot on, with a four ingredient formulation making for a product that’s extremely natural and enjoyable tasting. The hibiscus flavor is done just right, with a little bit lighter strength than what you’ll find in competing or ethnic products like Jamaica. This approach also allows the sweetener to be kept to a modest level, with 16 g of sugar per 8 oz. serving. The flavor has nice balance to it, with a very smooth and light mouth feel and a clean finish. Packaging is vibrant and attractive, with wholesome looking illustrations providing the backdrop. However, we’re not sure what value is added by calling it “Malaysian," especially since there’s no further mention of this word on the package. On that same note, it would be interesting if there were more about “Rob” on the bottle. Personifying the brand is a great idea (it worked for “Tom & Tom”), but one that’s hard to realize the benefit of without following through. Overall, we really like the flavor of the product and the aesthetics of the design, but there’s still a little room for improvement.
