We’re starting to see a resurgence in the use of hibiscus in beverages lately, so it’s no surprise that Rob’s Really Good has chosen to use this flavor. Their version is spot on, with a four ingredient formulation making for a product that’s extremely natural and enjoyable tasting. The hibiscus flavor is done just right, with a little bit lighter strength than what you’ll find in competing or ethnic products like Jamaica. This approach also allows the sweetener to be kept to a modest level, with 16 g of sugar per 8 oz. serving. The flavor has nice balance to it, with a very smooth and light mouth feel and a clean finish. Packaging is vibrant and attractive, with wholesome looking illustrations providing the backdrop. However, we’re not sure what value is added by calling it “Malaysian," especially since there’s no further mention of this word on the package. On that same note, it would be interesting if there were more about “Rob” on the bottle. Personifying the brand is a great idea (it worked for “Tom & Tom”), but one that’s hard to realize the benefit of without following through. Overall, we really like the flavor of the product and the aesthetics of the design, but there’s still a little room for improvement.
